Forerunners to the U.S. Air Force include the U.S. Army Air Service (USAAS) between 1918 and 1926, the U.S. United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) between 1926 and 1941, and the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) between 1941 and 1946, all acting as the aerial warfare service component of the United States Army.
