In the wedding ceremony of Sumitra Devi, Kamal Mitra saw Sandhya Roy, a pretty girl from a poor family in a village,and found her ideal to be his son's wife. He fixed the marriage in so much hurry that even the female members of Kamal Mitra's family did not get to see the photo of the would be bride. When the wedding was taking place there was some chaos relating dowry. After the marriage, Kamal Mitra by force took Soumitra Chattopadhyay away. Due to this shock, Sandhya Roy's father died that night. Now Sandhya Roy is living with her older brother AnupKumar who is a vagabond. Roy used to do some petty household works in the village to earn livelihood. One day Sumitra, Roy's childhood friend and her husband saw Soumitra in a fair. They confronted him and got to know that Soumitra is unhappy regarding his father's decision. They also let him know that Sandhya Roy is living a miserable life. Then they followed Soumitra and got to know the address of the hostel where Soumitra used to live. Then on the advice of Sumitra Devi, Roy writes a letter to Soumitra. In the meantime Soumitra's father fixed his marriage to somewhere else. Hearing this, furious Soumitra comes to rescue Sandhya Roy, but due to some misunderstanding he thought Roy is no more and he returns to his place. Then Soumitra agreed to get married again but out of despair started drinking alcohol. Because he thought because of his cowardly nature, Sandhya Roy died. In the meantime Roy's brother Anup Kumar got married to Anamika Saha. Saha created rift between Kumar and Roy. Roy flew from her village to Soumitra's house and after reaching there she got to know that everyone there knows she's dead and her husband is going to marry another girl who is far more rich and pretty. Then the story evolves.. The story is all about how Roy gets back her husband..

He starts a new life with them and strikes up a strong bond with Shyama who loves him with all her heart like her own brother. One day, Shyama attempts suicide which shatters Binu; disturbed, he leaves the troupe and once again becomes a helpless tramp. Finally to earn a living he starts begging on trains. On the other side, Chandraâ's uncle decides to get Chandra married to his bossâ's son, Boren, much to her dismay as she still loves Binu. It is now time for Chandra to stand up for love and for Binu to realize the true mission of his life.
