A scrupulously honest cop refuses kidnappers' demands at grave risk to the life of his son. Maya, coming from poor family, is married to the affluent Dr. Anand; but she tries to commit suicide on the nuptial night. She tells Anand that she was in love with Prem whose ambition was to be a music director. He too was in love with her but thought she would not be happy as his wife. Anand tells Maya that he had married her only for his mother who was on her death bed. When the mother dies Anand wants to unite Prem and Maya but Prem says it is against Hindu culture and disappears from their life.

Successful in robbing a bank of huge sums of cash; criminal don, Shamsher Singh alias Shera refuses to part the loot with his accomplice, Raja and instead try to shoot him which results in the police apprehending both Raja and Shera. The court then sentence both to a long jail term but Shera manages to escape; many attempts by the police to re-arrest Shera proves fertile prompting inspector Ravi Khanna to seek permission from the police commissioner to let Raja out on parole for a period of one week. Raja agrees to assist Ravi but prove difficult to handle at first; as they get acquainted with each other the mission becomes much easier.

Fearing for his son's life, Dharamraj proposes peace with Bharat and would like his son to marry Bharat's daughter Padmini. When Deshraj refuses to marry Padmini, Dharamraj is beside himself with anger and has Leela abducted and imprisoned. Deshraj must now make a choice: he can marry Padmini and ensure peace between the two families, or he can elope with Leela and live a life full of fear and uncertainty, not knowing when they will be killed, and whether it will be at the hands of Bharat or Dharamraj.

Rajesh Mehra lives a wealthy lifestyle with his mom, Sarita, and dad. His dad finalizes his marriage with Malti, who is the daughter of equally wealthy, Jagdish Kapoor. But this does not last for long, when Satyaprakash is released from prison, he recognizes the young man, as his fellow prison inmate, and much to the shock and dismay of Laxmi, asks him to leave the house, little knowing that he has now thrown open the door for Buddhiram to kill him and Laxmi.
