Ride alongside modern working cowboys on some of America's largest and most remote cattle ranches. The movie documents the lives of the men and women working on these "big outfit" ranches - some of which are over one million acres - and still require full crews of horseback mounted workers to tend large herds of cattle.

We began our Tails of Iceland journey of creation with the purpose of exploring the special relationships between the Icelandic people and their unusual horses. It is about the culture and the connection, and there have been thousands of stories in the hundreds of years since these horses were brought to this fiercely unforgiving and magnificent island. Our goal was to capture some of the tales and a lot of the history, but more importantly, to illustrate how deep this unique kinship goes. The film follows the majestic Band Stallion, Traveler and his family who dwell in Disappointment Valley, Colorado. When the Bureau of Land Management conducts a massive wild horse roundup, Traveler and his family are torn apart. They are sent to Wild Horse prison in a brutal removal of two-thirds of their wild horse herd. The film tracks wild horse advocates as they work to return Traveler to his homeland. They have to do this before he is shipped to BLM Long Term Holding where he may face Euthanasia or worse, being shipped to Mexico for brutal slaughter.

They are framed by a charismatic collection of human supporting actors, from their good-looking foul-mouthed trainer to an elderly groom who obviously prefers horses to people, but ultimately they command our attention on their own. Without ever straying into Disney territory, and eschewing sentimentality, Horses raises basic questions about what constitutes character and who can have it.
