Lucia Lane, an English writer by way of the US, arrives in Bombay to watch the filming of one of her novels. She's nearing middle age, she's had several husbands, she's lonely and self absorbed. Hari, a screenwriter, offers to show her around. She's interested only in the film's leading man, Vikram, younger than she, married, and building a career as a matinee idol. Lucia takes every opportunity to be near "V," making scenes in front of his wife, demanding his attentions. Hari is long suffering, carrying Lucia's messages to V, helping her out when the affair gets out of hand. Meanwhile, V's career suffers, with unpleasant repercussions. Malti always had lots of space to live and grow up in, will this obscure, noisy, overcrowded, with virtually no privacy for herself and Ram - be her fate for this lifetime? What will Gauri Shankar's reaction be when he finds out the reality of the Sharma family?

In the meantime, Kishore returns to his kingdom, which has it's King missing for several years, and the prince - a puppet in the hands of Kishore and his men. Will the two masked men be able to bring Kishore to justice, and end his tyrannical rule over this region?

Maanav gets him a job with Hercules Milk Foods. Maanav meets with and falls in love with Kaajal Gupta, who is the daughter of the owner of Hercules Milk Foods, much to the chagrin of her dad who wants her to get married to Shyamal. Then one day Maanav disappears from Gopichand and Kaajal's lives. He re-locates to Simla and it is here that he learns that things have spiraled out of control as Gopichand has been arrested for marketing contaminated milk powder resulting in the deaths of hundreds of children. Maanav decides to return to Bombay and attempts to try and make sense why Gopichand committed this crime.

Professor Vidyadhar teaches Hindi in a college and resides in a flat with his wife, Shobha, and school-going son, Pappu. He leads a fairly routine and mundane life, until a new resident in the flat upstairs moves in - an attractive young actress by the name of Menaka Khanna, the daughter of a wealthy man, Dinanath. Shobha does not approve of her at all and tells her so in quite a candid manner. An enraged Menaka swears she will make Shobha regret her criticism. This does leave his free to pursue Menaka, only to find out that Menaka has two other much younger suitors, namely Ranjit Das and Vinod, and both are not likely to give Menaka that easy - at least not without giving the Professor a run for his money.
