When his old prison-friend's daughter is about to wed a wealthy man, the friend steals a valuable pendant and gives it to the girl's father. The father, not realizing that it is stolen goods, gives it to his daughter as a wedding present. But the law shows up looking for the pendant.

A thief operating solo romances a lady at a masked ball and later helps the police by bringing a gang of fellow crooks to justice.

Ruth Pomeroy (Dorothy Phullips) secretly loves mechanic Jimmy Crdigan (Earle Metcalfe) but he loves Ruth's sister Connie (Lola Todd). When he goes off to war, Connie accepts his signet ring, but she is immediately unfaithful. When he returns blinded, Ruth assumes Connie's place, and when his sight is restored, Jimmy realizes it is Ruth he has loved all along.

A baby girl is left at the door of Brady, an Irish-policeman in New York City. He and his friends bid for her, and she is won by Uncle Ben Shapiro, a pawnbroker, who raises her to young womanhood, and is known as Sweet Rosie O'Grady. One day she goes to the rescue of Victor MacQuade, a young man from the high society set, who has been attacked by some east-side gang kids. The next day Victor, dressed as the family chauffeur, calls for her to go on on a ride. He goes home to change clothes while she peeks through the door at a charity costume-bazaar, and is swept inside by some late-arriving guests. She wins first prize for best costume, although she is dressed in the best she has. She flees angry and mortified. Since he has a larger house, she moves to Brady's home, one of her other foster-parents. Victor, who has fallen in love with Rosie, goes to Uncle Ben's shop and asks his permission to marry Rosie.

Sally Mapes and her husband Robert have a glorious romance after they are married, but they hit trouble after their son is born: Robert thinks that Sally cares more for their son than she does for him, and he just drifts along with his club-and-society activities, while Sally thinks he no longer loves her. She is attracted by Paul Gregg, one of society's useless members, which leads her and Robert to argue, and Robert departs. Jennie, the baby's governess, has an affair with a crook named Barnes, and one night while Barnes comes to rob the apartment he hears Paul imploring Sally to run away with him. And one thing leads to another.

Mistaken identity and female impersonation take place when indigents Billy Winthrop (George K. Arthur) and Ethel Winthrop (Dorothy Reviere) rent a fashionable apartment for a few days in order to impress rich uncle Hiram (Tom Ricketts.) Complications and misunderstanding arise.

To avoid being arrested for speeding,an unmarried couple, Eleanor Carter "Helene Chadwick" and BillTayor "Harry Myers", tell police officer "Hardboiled" Hogan "Pat Harmon", they are hurrying to see their "sick baby". Hogan tells them he is going to come to their apartment to see their sick baby. The couple hires an adult midget, Mr. Buppo "Midget Gustav" to impersonate the baby. They aren't aware that Mr. Buppo likes to smoke cigars. Complication arise.

J. Hamilton Smith (William H. Tooker), a well-known metropolitan banker---and not known former prison inmate---plots a no-problem, big heist, bank robbery with a gang of thieves. What their fool-proof plan didn't account for was an earthquake in which they all perish.

Michael Donovan (John Miljan), a heavy loser at a gambling casino, confronts its owner with evidence of cheating and finds himself accuse of murder, on circumstantial evidence, of the owner's murder.

When an industrious cigar manufacturer, Sam Weinberg "Max Davidson", falls into bad health, his daughter Ruth "Virginia Brown Faire", uses up her dowry to keep him in the to which he become accustomed. The money is retrieved after a horse race during which the winning horse is coaxed by his jockey in Yiddish.

A young girl, Peggy Warren (Dorothy Revier), raised in expensive boarding schools, discovers that her mother, respectable Katherine Warren (Ruth Stonehouse) also leads a second life as the notorious Texas Kate, Queen of the New York nightclubs. She leaves home ashamed of how her mother paid for her expensive schooling. A reconciliation re-unites mother and daughter after the mother saves her from a loveless marriage.

Stephen (Eugene O'Brien) loves Sally (Alberta Vaughn) and proposes to her. Sally, however, seems to prefer his brother Tom (Bert Woodruff), but after Stephen saves her securities in an office fire,she realizes it is Stephen she really loves.

Mary Hall (Ann Christy) forsakes the quiet life of her small-town home and joins her chorus-girl sister Helen Hall (Marguerire De La Motre) in New York. She's soon disillusioned with the big city life and returns home to her waiting beau Thomas Webster (Malcolm McGregor).

A disgraced sea captain signs on as a crewman on a cargo ship. He discovers that the vessel is captained by the very man who stole his ship, a sadistic brute who also took the former captain's wife and daughter. The ship's crew is composed mostly of sailors who were shanghai'ed aboard and are kept in line by the brutal captain and his even more fearsome first mate. The captain and one of his fellow crewmen--who has fallen in love with the man's daughter, who now belongs to the brutal captain--try to unite the crew to end the brutal reign of the captain and his henchman.

Businessman Lefty Malone (Ralph Graves) decides to become a prizefighter, has his head turned by instant success, falls for the wrong woman, Kitty (Mildred Harris), then realizes the error of his ways and finds true love with Molly O'Rourke (Eugenia Gilbert).

When Eve De Montalais (Lois Wilson) plans to smuggle her jewels into the United States, unknown to her traveling on the same ship are a gang of thieves who plan to steal the jewels. Michael Lanyard (Bert Lytell), alias The Lone Wolf, upsets their scheming and Eve seeks his aid in getting the gems past customs officials. While at a New York nightclub, Eve is informed that Lanyard is The Lone Wolf. She is then duped by a crook who assumes the role of a customs officer and induces her to turn over the jewels, Eve then escapes upon discovering the deception. Lanyard is overpowered by the gang but manages to free himself and declares the jewels to customs officials, who then promptly arrest the thieves. Eve is relieved to find that Lanyard is a Secret Service agent, and the lovers are reunited.

Sally, a girl of the tenements, is being raised by three bachelor foster-fathers: a pawnbroker, an organ-grinder, and a peddler. She is happy to prepare their meals and keeping the house while the old men bask in the attention she gives them. This happy home is broken up when Sally's wealthy aunt appears and takes her back to her luxurious penthouse to give her the advantages of money and social position. But Sally's heart is back across the river with her plumber sweetheart, Jimmie Adams.

The life of a circus owner, Albert Wells (William V. Mong), is ruined when he discovers his wife Corrine (Barbara Tennant) in the arms of the circus lion tamer Bert Colrton (John Miljan). In the fracas that followed, Corrine is accidentally killed, and Albert is sent to prison for life. Years later he escapes from prison dressed as a clown and is hired by his daughter, Corrine (Dorothy Revier), who does not recognize ans now runs the circus aided by Bob Stone (Johnnie Walker), the man she loves. Albert turns a lion on Colton, who is killed and, he himself is killed in an elephant stampede.

Bruce Paine (Conway Tearle), a fugitive from justice, arrives at Paradise Island, having confessed to crime committed by his father. His fiancee, Alice Burroughs (Alice Calhoun), however, retains her faith in him and his prepared to wait until his name is cleared. Marua (Dorothy Sebastian), a young native girl, sees no need to wait.

In Spain, a band of gypsies poach the deer in a neighboring estate. The gypsy chief, Tser (Harold Truesdale), is murdered in cold blood, and the estate owner Winston Graham (Jack Holt) is blamed. The chief's daughter Mona (Dorothy Revier) is an expert knife-thrower and sets out to avenge her father.

Donald Hampton (Kenneth Harlan), a rich playboy, falls in love with actress Fay Leslie (Helene Chadwick) and marries her against the wishes of his mother, Mrs. Hampton (Frances Raymond). Later, when Donald finds another man, Keith Carlin (John Patrick) in Fay's boudoir, he goes to pieces, believing that his marriage is as phony as stage kisses. Faithful Fay then sets out to show her her husband that she has been the victim of a set-up by her mother-in-law.

When theatrical producer Robert Chandler (E. Alyn Warren), believed drowned in a fishing accident, turns up as a lonely, broken amnesiac three months later, he arrives just in time to see his actress wife Carol Chandler (Claire Windsor), thought to be a widow, marrying her leading man Jimmy Keane (John Bowers). Rather than mar her new-found happiness, he takes a job washing cars. New York City is a small town.Will Carol need her car washed?

This story of the British Silent Service operating on the coast of China finds Tom Fellows, captain of an opium-smuggling ship, going into a notorious Chinese joint called "The House of a Thousand Delights," where he finds a beautiful girl, Mary Blake, bound and captive. He starts a brawl, rescues Mary in the mêlée that follows, and then loses her when she flees to a hotel. He follows her and finds she is mixed up in some mysterious activity. However, he knows more about her than she does him (because he isn't what he is supposed to be - and she isn't, either), he stays close by, even to the point of using a machine-gun to dispel a mob at a Chinese temple.

Bob and Jim start out at college as rivals, but soon become great friends. When Bob takes pretty Vivian Saunders to the prom, Jim is disappointed--he wanted to take her--but decides to make the best of it. However, when Bob becomes the school's football here, Jim's jealousy of his friend starts to really come out.
