This list is as per the film's performance money wise at the box office in the particular year. The order is as per revenue collected. There are some years in which films which are regarded as classics post their release or have developed cult following among public over the years, have become box office flop at the time of their release. 

The first 30 were hits and rest flops 

 Most of the  films in the below list are not regarded as good classic films except films like Khudgarz, Avam, Mr. India, Hukumat,Pushpak, Sansar , Loha , Satymev Jayate,Nazrana, Inaam Dus Hazar,New Delhi, Ijaazat, Uttar Dakshin and Mohre. The last six films were flops at the box office on their release.

Hukumat was the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1987. Successful Stars of the Year : 1.Dharmendra - The megastar continued his dominance with a string of blockbusters and superhits like Hukumat , Loha , Aag Hi Aag, Jaan Hatheli Pe , Insaaf ki Pukaar, Dadagiri & Watan ke Rakhwale. 2.Mithun Chakraborty - The superstar continued his dominance with a string of hits like Watan ke Rakhwale , Dance Dance , Parivaar & Hawalaat. 3.Jeetendra - Continued his stardom with superhits "Khudgarz", "Insaniyat ke dushman", "Aulaad" and "Insaaf ki Pukaar" 4.Govinda - He starred in many hits like Khudgarz , Dadagiri , Marte Dam Tak, Mera Lahoo & Pyaar Karke Dekho. 5.Vinod Khanna - Had a successful comeback with the actioner "Insaaf". 6.Shatrughan Sinha - Starred in the superhits "Insaaniyat ke Dushman" , "Loha" and "Aag Hi Aag" alongside Dharmendra and in "Khudgarz" alongside Jeetendra. 7.Anil Kapoor - He starred in the blockbuster "Mr. India" alongside Sridevi. 8.Sridevi - She continued her dominance with blockbusters like "Mr. India" and "Watan ke Rakhwale" alongside Anil Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty respectively.

The Highest rated film is Mr. India with 7.7 and the lowest rated film is Sindoor with 4.8
