British television was at its most creative during the 50s and 60s. Several theatre programmes highlighted upcoming acting talent, including the following: Sean Connery, Albert Finney, Alan Bates, Robert Shaw, Ian Hendry, Patrick McGoohan, Stanley Baker, Rupert Davies, Billie Whitelaw, Barry Foster, Ian Holm, Michael Caine, Vivien Merchant, Diana Rigg.

British TV had some exciting dramas from the 50s to the 70s.

Shows throughout the decades, I've selected ones of different genres. In my opinion, actors had far better written material to work with, in the early days. Enjoy!
