Gillian Hutshing, ACE, is an established film editor with over 65 titles to her credit. Her projects range from feature films and documentaries to TV and streaming for award-winning directors, including Sir Ridley Scott, Ben Affleck, among others. She recently collaborated with director Nicol Paone on The Kill Room, a comedy thriller starring Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Joe Manganiello, and Maya Hawke. Other notable feature credits include Blade Runner: The Final Cut, with Ridley Scott, The Town, for Ben Affleck, Little Shop of Horrors: Directors Cut, for producer David Geffen and director Frank Oz. Her film with director Perry King, The Divide, received 23 Festival WINS, including eight for Best Feature Film.
Gillian got her start in the film industry as the apprentice editor on a John Cassavetes short film for which she received her first on-screen credit. Four years later, she joined the Motion Picture Editors Guild with her work on the Gene Wilder comedy Haunted Honeymoon. Ms. Hutshing quickly climbed the ranks from apprentice editor to lead editor and developed a reputation in Hollywood as a film "doctor," transforming troubled projects into award-winning films. Passionate about her career, Ms. Hutshing also enjoys mentoring new filmmakers and upcoming film enthusiasts. She joined American Cinema Editors, ACE, in 2022.
Drawing from her understanding of children's films, between editing projects, Ms. Hutshing wrote and illustrated a children's book, Sparky the Wonderfish: A Story of How Love Creates Magic, voted #1 Children's Book by Amazon. Ms. Hutshing has been a featured author and title at the Book Expo America, West Hollywood Book Fair, Orange County Children's Book Festival, and the LA Times Festival of Books. Ms. Hutshing serves on the Advisory Board and holds the Booksellers Chairman position for the Greater Los Angeles Writers Society.
Ms. Hutshing, raised in La Jolla, California, majored in English and Communications at the University of California at Davis and now resides in Los Angeles.
