After more than 15 years, Judy Greer is reflecting on her decision not to audition for Modern Family.

The actress recently noted that she “didn’t even want kids” at the time, so the opportunity to play mom Claire Dunphy (which ultimately went to Julie Bowen) on the ABC sitcom and become “America’s mom” wasn’t appealing to her.

“This was a time in my career when I was starting to [play moms],” she told Bowen’s co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his Dinner’s On Me podcast.

“It sounds so silly to say it out loud now, but I’ll be honest. In a movie, I would have a kid. And then there was this opportunity to audition where I would have three kids, one of them in high school,” added Greer. “And on a TV show… and you do have to think of these things in success, and obviously Modern Family was a huge success.

Sarah Hyland is bravely speaking out, and thanking Julie Bowen.

During an acceptance speech for the first-ever Courage Award from Variety, the 33-year-old Modern Family star spoke about being a survivor of domestic violence.

“For thousands of years now, we didn’t talk about it,” she said of enduring domestic violence.

“The community hasn’t shared enough, I believe. And I feel that if we talk about it more, more women — and men and just human beings in general in abusive relationships — will feel more comfortable to be able to talk about it with their loved ones instead of letting their abuser isolate them from everyone, which is the first thing that they do, so that you don’t have that community,” she went on.

Sarah said that “talking about it” is “really important” to helping those in need, and discussed how Ptsd often affects survivors long after the abusive relationship.

“Modern Family” star and “Love Island USA” host Sarah Hyland spoke Thursday night in Los Angeles at the annual gala for Variety Power of Women presented by Lifetime. In her speech, the four-time SAG Award winner was honored at the event with the inaugural Variety Courage Award presented by Purina, for her work to increase awareness around animal welfare and domestic abuse.

“Accepting this award for courage has made me think about what that word means to me. It takes courage to wake up every morning and face the world knowing that people may have no idea what you are going through,” Hyland said in her speech. “It’s all too easy to feel isolated and misunderstood, no matter how strong you are.”

Hyland went on to praise the award’s sponsor, Purina, and its animal rights activist partner RedRover for their Purple Leash Project, which helps domestic violence shelters become “pet-friendly.

Zoe Saldaña delivered an emotional speech at Variety‘s Power of Women ceremony, presented by Lifetime.

“I’m really honored to be here today among so many amazing women. Carol Burnett, Amy Adams, Bela Bajaria, what a privilege it is to be standing here alongside you all this evening. I’m constantly in awe of each of you,” Saldaña said in her speech, shouting out her fellow Power of Women honorees. “A woman brought each and every one of us here tonight into this world, and when we get opportunities like this, where we can all come together and rally for each other, there’s truly nothing like it.”

Saldaña — the queen of the box office, whose resume boasts the three highest-grossing films of all time in “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avatar: The Way of Water” — was feted alongside Adams, Burnett and Netflix’s Bajaria, as well as Variety Courage Award recipient Sarah Hyland.

Following a series of burglaries targeting high-profile individuals in Los Angeles, pop singer Jessie J has become the most recent celebrity victim – she was recently robbed of more than $20,000 worth of jewelry.

On Thursday, Jessie J, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, had notified the cops earlier that week that her Southern California mansion had been broken into. The robbers broke a back window of the house to enter.

The Modern Family alum recently explained that series co-creator Chris Lloyd’s planned spin-off about Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Stonestreet) appears to be dead in the water, four years after the ABC sitcom ended its 11-season run.

Nickelodeon has announced the addition of Modern Family, the 22-time Emmy Award-winning acclaimed comedy series, to its Nick at Nite programming lineup beginning Monday, September 9. The sixth season of Love Island USA is one of the record books. With the new winners crowned, viewers are reflecting on the incredibly dynamic season of the Peacock series. Love Island originated in the United Kingdom and has since spread to 23 franchises spread across the world. Love Island USA premiered in 2019 on CBS, but transitioned to Peacock where the series has truly flourished. Previous seasons were hosted by actress Sarah Hyland, but Season 6 also brought in a new host: Ariana Madix.

The previous season of Love Island USA was one of the more successful ones in terms of finding true love matches. But the series performed well enough for Peacock to keep it around for Season 5.

In the moment, it all seemed like a big joke. Just a few months ago, all the senior members of the Modern Family cast — Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet — reunited at the SAG Awards to joke about post-sitcom life.

“I just sometimes get a little nostalgic for the golden days,” lamented Ferguson before offering the rationalization that life after a hit show can be pretty sweet as well.

O’Neill dumped a bucket of ice water on Ferguson’s wishful thinking. “Who are we kidding?” he asked. “I didn’t want to get emotional up here, but you know what I miss about it most of all? The money.”

Turns out, the bit wasn’t such a joke. Based on a pair of dumb new commercials, those Modern Family stars do miss each other. And by each other, I mean “the money.

In a way, I’m relieved.

Reboots of all-time classics, of which “Modern Family” in the sitcom genre absolutely qualifies, are terrifying. The only thing they can really do is taint the reputation of the original.

Modern Family cast members reunited as their characters onscreen for the first time since the comedy series ended in 2020 in a commercial for the messaging app WhatsApp. The ad – featuring Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet – aired Monday, June 17 during the NBA Finals Championship game. The commercials opens with Phil (Burrell), Claire (Bowen), and Cam (Stonestreet) sitting on the Dunphys’ living room couch, looking at Cam’s phone to see a photo of Haley’s (played by Sarah Hyland on the show) twins. As the three gush, Mitchell (Ferguson) walks in and naturally wants to see.
