In the post, Lambert revealed that the three songwriters came together to write a song this week, and that is what introduced her to Jelly Roll.

The Born & Raised Music Festival will return for its second year in 2022, bringing a musical lineup that’s concentrated with Red Dirt, Texas country, and left-of-center country sounds. Presented by Aeg, the festival sets up at Pryor Creek Music Festival Grounds in Pryor, Oklahoma, from Sept. 16 to 18 and features headlining performances from Zach Bryan, Cody Jinks, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Miranda Lambert sings about being in perpetual motion on her new album Palomino. Set for release April 29, it’s the follow-up to her collaborative 2021 album The Marfa Tapes and her first album under her own name since 2019’s Wildcard.

The track list includes a few songs from the bare-bones Marfa Tapes that are gussied up for Palomino, like “Geraldene” and “In His Arms.” There’s also a wealth of new compositions, many of them with songwriters Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. Dick, Marfa Tapes alum Jon Randall, and Lambert produced the record.

This year’s Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were a bit polarizing with the glaring exclusions of some artists leading the new wave in country music right now like Kacey Musgraves and Mickey Guyton, and the inclusion of the all-too-controversial Morgan Wallen. With the show coming soon on March 7, let’s take a look at the album and song categories to see who’s likely to win.

Album of the Year

A couple possible scenarios could happen here. The nominee that would make the most sense winning would probably be Morgan Wallen, as “Dangerous: the Double Album” is the most successful album here by a huge margin and was in fact the biggest album of 2021 from any genre. However, I’m still not sure about how much the ACMs will want to give Wallen such a big honor, especially considering he was banned from competing and attending last year’s edition.

The new season kicks off when a 10-year-old girl dies in an arson fire, prompting Detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) to risk everything to bring her killer to justice despite opposition from powerful forces.

Jon Randall had been going to Marfa, Texas, and nearby Terlingua since the early 2000s, and he was quickly becoming an evangelist. “It was one of those places that just filled my heart,” the Texas-born songwriter and producer says. “Especially if you’re very creative and ever have an introspective part of you, it’s that place you want to be.”

As the release of their collaborative album The Marfa Tapes draws near, the trio of Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall are popping up with live appearances. On Wednesday, they performed the song “Geraldene” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and followed it with the Thursday announcement of a new documentary.

Like their previous televised performances, the trio’s version of “Geraldene” is an all-acoustic performance that has the looseness of a friendly jam session. Lambert smiles her way through the funky, swaggering tune referencing a woman who’s “trailer-park pretty” and causing domestic trouble.
