Sandra Itkoff(I)

Sandra M. Itkoff is currently Executive Producer of the ten-part series, The Decalogue, in association with WGBH, which uses the Ten Commandments as a framework for a compelling and provocative look at contemporary society. The series will be comprised of narrative personal films taking us on a genuine inquiry through some piece of our contemporary moral landscape. The filmmakers associated with the project are Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line (1988); Fast, Cheap & Out of Control (1997)), Ofra Bikel (Frontline (1983) producer), Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (The Times of Harvey Milk (1984); The Celluloid Closet (1995)), Albert Maysles and 'Susan Fromke' (_Salesman (1969)_; Grey Gardens (1975); Gimme Shelter (1970)), Deborah Hoffmann (Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter (1994)), and Jon Else (The Day After Trinity (1981); Eyes on the Prize (1987)), which she is producing in association with WGBH Boston. Ms. Itkoff has worked in film and television production for over ten years. She has just finished executive producing the six-film documentary series The Twentieth Century Project for the Walt Disney Company, with Norman Jewison, Barry Levinson, Garry Marshall, Gregory Nava, Robert Townsend, and Robert Zemeckis directing. The first film in the series premiered on Showtime June 1999. A new film in the series will premiere each month until the end of the year. Ms. Itkoff previously was executive producer of Cadillac Desert (1997), a four-part documentary series about the epic political and environmental struggle for water in the modern American West. Jon Else directed the first three films of Cadillac Desert (1997), Linda Harrar directed the fourth, and Alfre Woodard was the series narrator. The series was distributed by PBS and Columbia TriStar International Television. Many of the films in the series won numerous awards including a duPont-Columbia University Award in Journalism, Best of Festival at the Telluride Mountain Film Festival, the Earthwatch Award, and the CINE Golden Eagle Award. When Cadillac Desert (1997) premiered in 1997, the series ranked as the most watched television program on PBS that year. Ms. Itkoff was an executive at Largo Entertainment for four years. Since leaving, she has created, developed and produced programming for the Public Broadcasting System, Turner Broadcasting System, Arts and Entertainment, The Disney Channel, Columbia TriStar, Walt Disney Company, National Geographic, Showtime, ABC and Nickelodeon. She is executive producing the children's multi-media variety series Grossology (2006): The Science of Really Gross Things for Nickelodeon, based on the best selling books of the same name. Ms. Itkoff is producing two feature films, currently in development, How I Became Hettie Jones with Will Smith Enterprises and Lone Traveler with National Geographic Features. Ms. Itkoff has an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a graduate degree from the University of Chicago.
