    He billed himself as 'Bobby Pinkus' in the 1920s and 1930s, in vaudeville and on Broadway. Peter James, as 'Pinkus,' was one of Ted Healy's stooges for 1 and a half years. He joined the Healy gang in May 1927 for the Broadway run of the Shubert Bros.' "A Night in Spain," and its national tour of November 1927 - December 1928 . His fellow stooges in "Spain" were Sam 'Moody' Braun, Shemp Howard and [as of March 1928] Larry Fine.
