Brad Pitt and George Clooney's Must-Watch Crime Comedy 'Burn After Reading' Is Leaving Streaming Soon
Image
For anyone who hasn’t seen Burn After Reading, this is the perfect time to catch one of the Coen Brothers’ most underrated comedies before it leaves Netflix on September 1. The film came out in 2008 and has a solid 78% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s full of the Coens’ signature dark humor, absurd situations, and clueless characters trying to outsmart a system they barely understand. The film also features Ocean’s fan favorites Brad Pitt and George Clooney sharing the screen again. 2024’s Wolfs was also heavily hyped for reuniting the duo, but Burn After Reading quietly pulled it off years earlier, and in far more unhinged roles.

The plot of Burn After Reading centers around a disk containing the memoirs of a retired CIA analyst, which ends up in the hands of two clueless gym employees. They think they’ve found a golden ticket and try to blackmail...

Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan’s reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair is making headlines again, with Adria Arjona joining the cast. Arjona will star opposite Jordan as the film’s co-lead, replacing Taylor Russell, who Deadline says left the project on Friday due to creative differences.

Although their paths may not have crossed in the MCU (not yet anyway), Deadpool & Wolverine’s Channing Tatum and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Jamie Foxx once put it all on the line in a gritty action thriller. The Batman Fans Need To Watch The Director's Horror Masterpiece While They Wait For The Sequel
Image
When I watch "The Batman," I never want it to end. Even three hours isn't enough time in this world, and the spin-off show "The Penguin" could only tide me over so much. Even "The Penguin" setting the stage for "The Batman Part II" is bittersweet because that sequel remains years away.

Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II" has been delayed several times. The movie is currently set to open October 1, 2027, but DC Studios co-chief James Gunn told Entertainment Weekly that he hadn't seen Reeves' script as of the end of March 2025.

It's easy to feel cynical right now. On top of these delays, Gunn is reimagining the DC Universe on film and it's difficult to see Reeves and actor Robert Pattinson's Batman fitting into that. DC Studios has even announced a different Batman movie, "The Brave and the Bold," featuring Bruce Wayne and his son Damian/Robin.

But...

Brad Pitt’s Notorious F CinemaScore Thriller Box Office Bomb Gets Outgrossed 4 Times by ‘F1’ in Just One Weekend

In a way, both the crime thriller Killing them Softly and the sports drama F1 are about capitalism. Both movies star Brad Pittin the lead role, but only one of them has been successful. This weekend, F1generated nearly $150 million at the global box office, on the back of positive reviews and near-unanimous praise from audiences. At the same time, it ended up lapping Killing them Softly's entire box office haul four times in just three days. The crime thriller debuted back in 2012, received straight-up hate from audiences, and concluded its run with less than $40 million globally.

It was, however, a film of uncommonly high pedigree. Directed by Andrew Dominik, Killing them Softlycompeted for the prestigious Palme d'Or at...

Critically Panned Disaster Film Finds Redemption on Netflix 22 Years After Flopping in Theaters

Sci-fi disaster films have always been an attraction, although not all of them were a success. The star-studded film The Core was an example of a film that was not as successful as it hoped to be.

Toby Jones at an event for The Painted Veil (2006)
Mr Burton review – the teacher who inspired and encouraged screen legend Richard Burton
Toby Jones at an event for The Painted Veil (2006)
Toby Jones plays the spaniel-eyed schoolmaster setting Harry Lawtey’s needy young pupil on course for haughty international stardom

The career of Richard Burton seemed mythic at the time, and more so in retrospect. In Pedro Almodóvar’s latest movie The Room Next Door, Julianne Moore’s character is even shown reading Erotic Vagrancy, Roger Lewis’s account of Burton’s then-adulterous relationship with Elizabeth Taylor in the early 60s, the title taken from Pope John Xxiii’s extraordinary denunciation: “You will finish in an erotic vagrancy, without end or without a safe port.” In fact, the nearest thing Burton ever had to a safe port was his inspirational English teacher Philip Burton in Port Talbot, south Wales, whose own frustrated dreams of the theatre were poured into the bright young miner’s son Richard Jenkins, coaching him in acting and even making him his legal ward and getting him...

Is Toby Jones the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business?
Image
Toby Jones wonders if the film and TV industry is becoming more risk-averse.

“It does feel like that at the moment, with the price of IP,” the veteran actor tells The Hollywood Reporter about an absence of original storytelling. “Is it just harder for those new voices to come through? Or will they come through thanks to new technologies? Or maybe people will just make films like [Sean Baker] — with their phone.”

If there’s anyone to pay attention to on this subject, it’s Jones. You’ve most likely seen him in one of his 70-something movies across his decades-spanning career: maybe his voice work as Dobby in the beloved Harry Potter franchise or as evil scientist Arnim Zola of Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

Perhaps you know him from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, as Truman Capote in biopic Infamous or as Claudius Templesmith in The Hunger Games.

Ryan Reynolds' 2024 Flop Film Finally Gets the Attention It Deserves

When looking at Ryan Reynolds' 2024, one particular project stands out: Deadpool & Wolverine. While the third installment in his Merc with a Mouth franchise was a tremendous success, he had a project that didn't reach the same heights — If.

The children's movie If, which stands for Imaginary Friends, was actor and director John Krasinski's first brush with the genre after his two successful horror films from the A Quiet Place franchise. The 10 Best Kurt Russell Movies

March 17, 1951 was a great day in history, because that’s the day Kurt Vogel Russell entered the world. And while he would go on to become one of the biggest icons of the eighties and nineties, many folks don’t know that Russell started as a child star for The Walt Disney Company, even acting opposite his future life partner Goldie Hawn in The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968) – although they wouldn’t get together until Russell ended up in another movie starring Goldie Hawn, Swing Shift (1984). From the sixties into the seventies, he starred in Disney flicks like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), but as the studio’s movies started to flop and Russell got older, a change of pace was needed. What Happened To The Cast Of Six Feet Under?
Image
When it first aired in 2000, "Six Feet Under" was unknowingly part of the dawn of a golden age of television. Alongside early-aughts HBO hits like "The Wire" and "The Sopranos," the tragicomedy told the story of a family-run funeral home trying to make sense of life and death in the wake of the sudden loss of their father.

A revival has reportedly been in the works for some time, despite the fact that it would seemingly be in conflict with what is arguably the greatest series finale of a TV show ever. Still, the mere idea of a return to these loveable, complicated, and tragic characters makes us wonder what happened to the cast of "Six Feet Under?"

This 19-Year-Old HBO Drama Jumped the Shark but Ended Up Sticking the Landing
Image
Big Love premiered on HBO in 2006 and quickly earned critical acclaim. The story of a family practicing polygamy as part of their fundamentalist religious ideals, the series examined family dynamics, trauma, faith and belief, and different forms of prejudice. Bill Henrickson, his three wives, and their numerous children grew and evolved over the course of five seasons, giving fans an intimate look at an unusual lifestyle and sparking plenty of debate about the show's themes and message. The complex drama was marked by superb writing and excellent performances from the very beginning, drawing large audiences and even attention from academics. Despite its numerous strengths, however, Big Love definitely experienced a slump in the middle of its run.

While it started strong, Big Love started to move away from what made it work by the fourth season. Focusing less on the development of the characters, it began leaning, instead, into more ridiculous plots.

'American Primeval' Fans Need to Revisit 'Bone Tomahawk'
Image
Netflix's new Western series American Primeval has quickly become one of the platform's biggest hits of the moment, holding the number one spot on the streamer for several days before being dethroned by another bloodbath, WWE Monday Night Raw. Written by The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith and directed by Deepwater Horizon's Peter Berg, the series unflinchingly plunges viewers into the brutally violent world of the American West circa 1857, a time frequently mythologized and often toned down by Hollywood.

While many westerns offer a more sanitized view of 19th Century frontier life, others have been willing to go there before American Primeval hit the scene. One of the best examples from recent years can even be found on the same platform, just a click away after the final episode: 2015's Bone Tomahawk. Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler in his directorial debut, the film is more sparing...

Netflix's New Show Is The Most Brutal Western I've Seen Since Kurt Russell's Bone Tomahawk 10 Years Ago

Warning: Spoilers ahead for American Primeval & Bone Tomahawk.

Few Westerns, particularly those set in the Old West, are as brutally violent as Bone Tomahawk and the new Netflix series American Primeval. American Primeval was written by Mark L. A Marvel Star’s Singular Dip Into Horror Has Haunted Its Way Onto a Free Streamer

To so many of us, Chris Hemsworth’s main mark on the entertainment industry is through action films. The beefy Australian will forever be synonymous with his role as Thor aka The God of Thunder in his own lineup of Marvel films as well as a handful of The Avengers flicks.
