1 of Smallville's Best Superman Moments Was Ruined 10 Years Later by the Arrowverse
Image
Quick LinksClark's Future Was Revealed in SmallvilleClark Later Appeared in the ArrowverseThe Arrowverse Disputed Clark's Alleged Future

Though many Supermanstories gloss over Clark Kent's earliest days, Smallvillewas dedicated to it. The show was so focused on his origin story that it ended with Superman finally wearing his costume. It was a triumphant moment, made better by the fulfillment of a promise made over its 10-season run. By the end of the series, Clark was finally embracing the Superman mantle. He opened his coat, revealing a stunning costume, and the show finally came to an end. 10 years and 216 episodes later, the Blur finally evolved into the Superman that audiences know and love.

Still, after so many years with Tom Welling's Superman, it was not especially easy to say goodbye to the Man of Steel. As his powers slowly emerged, the character became more concrete and more beloved. His depiction of...

Alexz Johnson Ditched Major Labels to Make Music on Her Terms: "This Is My Story. Take It or Leave It."
Image

"Why aren't you more famous?" It's one question independent singer-songwriter and actor Alexz Johnson gets too often. "[That question is] very sweet, and it's obviously coming from a really beautiful place, but what's behind that is, 'You should be more of a success,'" the 36-year-old mother of two tells Popsugar. From 2010 until now, Johnson has released five studio albums independently. Her latest, "Seasons," came out on April 7.

For an artist with a résumé as impressive as Johnson's, it's somewhat natural to wonder why her powerhouse voice isn't dominating the airwaves. But Johnson is right where she wants to be as an artist, and she's aiming to redefine what success looks like with her new album.

"When I started the process of doing 'Seasons,' I was pregnant with my son and it was Covid still . . . I was like, 'You know what? I'm going to do a record from home.

Underrated Teen Drama Shows That Are Worth Watching
Image
Teen dramas aren't just for teens anymore. In 2022, "Euphoria" became HBO's second most-watched series ever, and season 3 of Mindy Kaling's comedy-drama "Never Have I Ever" continued to attract a massive audience of viewers of all ages. The genre simply continues to expand, to the delight of its many fans.

Perhaps teen dramas persist because becoming an adult is a universally complex stage of life. In her book "Teen TV," Dr. Stefania Marghitu writes, "Certain narrative elements present themselves in nearly every teen series: the protagonist feels alienated from the adolescent world she is on the threshold of entering. This conflict is intertwined with a passionate story of first love and new discoveries during the transition from child to adult." Even for viewers who are no longer teens, the thrills, pains, and misunderstandings of youth aren't too difficult to remember.

Some of the best teen dramas on TV are the...

Tony Grider, Kentucky Firefighter, Dies After Als Ice Bucket Challange Accident
Tony Grider, a 16-year veteran Campbellsville, Ky., fire department died on Saturday, following an accident overseeing an Als Ice Bucket Challenge stunt. Grider, along with fellow firefighters Steve Marrs, Simon Quinn and Alex Johnson were badly burned when water made contact with an open power line. Grider and Quinn were inside a large bucket off a ladder, controlling the fall of the ice water onto the volunteering college students who taped the incident to raise money for Lou Gehrig’s disease research. As the crowd began to disperse, the ladder end up moving, coming within a few feet of a power line. The energy that surrounds the wire was high enough and the bucket was close enough to make contact, shocking both Grider and Quinn.

Marrs and Johnson were on the ground, and attempted to move the bucket away from the wire and down to the ground. When they tried to lower it,...

How Alexz Johnson Raised $67,000 To Tour The Country
Instant Star (2004)
In 2009, Alexz Johnson was on her way to becoming a rockstar, just like her TV persona Jude Harrison. After starring in the Canadian television series "Instant Star," Johnson was signed to Epic Records. Things looked promising for the young singer, who had recorded a debut album with the label. However, when Epic started to restructure their artists, Johnson was subsequently dropped from the label, and her debut album was never released.

"It was an amazing experience," Johnson told HuffPost Entertainment. "I was even offered a part on '90210,' but I turned it down because I really wanted to go on tour with this record. Then it never ended up getting a release. I waited about 10 months, but the head of the label, who signed me, wasn't there anymore, and it never got released."

Some artists may have given up, but Johnson, 25, is doing things her own way. After being dropped,...

Top 7 ‘Final Destination’ Death Scenes
We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.

Killing teenagers on-screen is a bloody cash cow of sorts for Hollywood, however strange our desire to watch such events may be. Before the Final Destination films, the killing of meddling kids was usually up to serial killers like Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger. Starting in 2000, director James Wong introduced a new, elusive serial killer to teenagers – Death itself. And instead of being limited by physical capabilities or select iconic weaponry, this villain would be able to destroy its victims in any way it could imagine. Unlike Freddy, this villain would also have the ability to force screws to loosen, or blow something over with a gust of wind.

When deciding upon the “Top 7″ death scenes from the franchise’s five films, one must consider a few things: gruesomeness, memorability, and their importance to the entire philosophy of Death, according to the franchise.

Summer's Sexiest Women: The Women of the 'Final Destination' Series
Filed under: Features, Video

'Final Destination 5' opens today, and with it, the franchise joins a somewhat-exclusive club of horror franchises -- including 'Friday the 13th' (12), 'Halloween' (10), 'Nightmare on Elm Street' (9) and 'Hellraiser' (9), among others -- that can claim at least five entries.

The series started off quite well -- the second one was nearly as good as the first -- but saw a slight dip in quality with the third and fourth installments. However, we've heard that the latest film is a return to the thrilling heights of the earlier flicks. One thing that that never really lagged is its casting of attractive young stars eager to meet with grisly on-screen deaths, a time-honored tradition in the horror genre dating back to the '70s and '80s classics listed above and continuing through the 'Scream' series in the '90s and 'Saw' in the aughts.

Top Ten Death Scenes from the 'Final Destination' Franchise... So Far
I am seeing Final Destination 5 tonight and unlike two years ago with The Final Destination I wasn't at Comic Con this year to have pretty much every single death scene spoiled for me in advance. However, that's hardly the reason that film stunk. One of the biggest reasons I disliked The Final Destination was the decision to use so much CGI for the 3D effect rather than focus on fun and inventive kills. In fact, one scene where they almost had a great death in a car wash ends with the girl being saved... What up with that?

Well, Final Destination 5 is in 3D as well, and I can't help but wonder if director Steven Quale will make the same mistakes David Ellis made on the last installment. In fact, The Final Destination was truly the first film in the franchise I took virtually no pleasure out of,...

X Factor 2011: Boyband 4Real being coached by Alexandra Burke’s teacher for bootcamp (Video)
A four piece boyband are hoping to stun the judges, when they get to perform at The X Factor bootcamp later this month.

Hornsey based singers 4Real have reportedly passed the initial audition rounds, after impressing the panel and the audience alike at the recent O2 tryouts in London. They are being mentored by Music agent Alex Johnson, who also worked with Alexandra Burke in the run up to her X Factor audition in 2008, and he told the Hornsey Journal that he thinks they stand a good chance of making the live shows.

Alex said:

“They’re very talented and I think they can win it, definitely. I’m working with them and every month they perform. Each time they come on my show they’re better and better.”

The boyband consists of Gerald Owusu, Gabriel Njoku, Samuel Frimpong and Remi Akinkunle. They all met at Greig City Academy’s...

'Pretty Little Liars'' 'For Whom the Bell Tolls': A Farewell to Ian?
Excuse us while we scrap the remnants of our jaws off the floor.

You know you've just watched a good season finale when you have said the phrase "Oh my god!" over five times. We said it about 10 times during "Pretty Little Liars" Season 1 finale on Monday, Mar. 21.

Sure, the first half moved a glacial pace and it almost felt like nothing was going to happen. Luckily, the second half took a few Adderall pills and kicked the drama into high gear.

Instead of running down the entire episode (because really, who wasn't watching?) we're going to choose the best/funniest/scariest moments from the episode. So without further ado, here are our top 10 moments from "Pretty Little Liars'" Season 1 finale, "For Whom the Bell Tolls":

10. Shirtless Toby Ftw!

We won't lie, that video of Jenna seducing Toby may be the show's creepiest moment Ever. Seriously, it was uncomfortable to watch.

Land of Canaan: News, Synopsis, and Trailer
A film about the murders in the Goldfield Hotel "Land of Caanaan," not to be confused with another horror film "Ghosts of Goldfield," which offers the same premise, this film seems to be in production limbo. Release dates have changed on this feature from mid 2008 to late 2008 then to 2009 and now 2010. Possibly looking for additional funding to close out the film "Land of Caanaan," seems to be working towards a future, hopefully soon, release date.

A full theatrical trailer is unavailable, but a promotional video and first one sheet poster can be seen here. Starring many well known actors including; Tara Reid, Robert England and Dwight Yoakam this film, with a $7.6 million budget, will need a little more help from studios before fans get a chance to see "Land of Canaan," in its entirety. In the meantime have a look at the first promotional video below.

Smallville ‘Legion’ Mid-Season Return = Weak
Bummer.

After a promising first half of Smallville’s 8th season, including a pretty good cliffhanger that teased us with a Doomsday showdown, the January premiere was a huge letdown.

It wasn’t just that we Still haven’t gotten the Doomsday/Clark Kent battle (maybe next week?), it was that the episode seemed to have dropped in quality back to the soap opera lameness of season 7.

The episode (Legion) opens and the first person we see is Lana walking through the wreckage from the previous episode - and my immediate thought was “Ugh, Lana is Still on the damned show.” From there we cut to Clark getting almost literally slaughtered by a masked guy with an axe who looks like they borrowed the “Frankenstein” mask from the recent Death Race movie. It turns out he’s a villain from the 31st century, and the Legion of Superheroes shows up...

Smallville To Power On To A 9th Season
Mid to late last year, conjecture was abound as to whether this 8th season of Smallville would be the last season, as had been originally planned.

Many factors were floating around as to the outcome. Does The CW stick to the original plan? Do ratings have an impact on the plans? What about actor availability? Do we, the viewers want a 9th season? Ok, that last one was a duh.

This season has seen some pretty good plot lines. We’ve seen a few new characters, we’re about to meet the Legion of Superheroes from the 31st century and wait ’til we find out who sent them! We’re going to be seeing The Toyman in February and heck, even Tori Spelling is going to reprise her role of gossip columnist Linda Lake for at least one episode.

Back in December, ratings were telling The CW that the show should go on.

'Smallville' Gains its Saturn Girl
Stephen Stohn reveals on his Alexz Johnson fansite that she will portray Saturn Girl on Smallville. The eleventh episode this season, written by Geoff Johns, will introduce Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy as visiting Clark Kent from their thirtieth century home. This is a direct adaptation of their legendary first appearance in 1958’s Adventure Comics #247.

Sohn wrote, “Yes, to answer questions that people keep asking me about: the rumors that Alexz is guest-starring in the long-awaited ‘Legion’ episode of Smallville are true… she is filming this episode as she awaits the final mix of what may be the final song for her album…"

The episode will most likely run in December but has not been officially announced nor has the casting for the other Legionnaires. Over at IGN, Johns this week said the flight rings will be in evidence but not their traditional comic book togs. It also...
