Alien: Covenant Sequel in the Works From Ridley Scott
Image
In Hollywood, no one can stop sequels, and this is especially true of the iconic Alien franchise, which already boasts a total of seven movies (nine if you include the Alien/Predator crossovers) since the series began way back in 1979. And it sounds like there is even more to come, with Alien creator and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ridley Scott reportedly all set to return to the franchise and helm another installment.

At least, that is what it sounds like, according to a new report by THR. In an in-depth reflection on his years working with studio 20th Century, the report reveals that Scott is now developing a new Alien movie for 20th in the wake of Romulus success, plus a Battle of Britainfilm being written by Joe Penhall, as well as the previously announced thriller Bomb from Kevin McMullin.

While this certainly sounds like Scott is indeed returning to direct another Alien movie,...

10 Movies to Watch While Waiting for Alien: Romulus
Image
Alien: Romulus is one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2024. It is directed by Fede Alvarez, the visionary behind hits like Evil Dead (2013) and Don't Breathe (2016). The film has an all-star cast of newcomers including Isabela Merced, Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux and David Johnson. To top it off, Alien director Ridley Scott is a producer and James Cameron (the director of Aliens) is serving as an "unofficial consultant" for the film. The trailers, meanwhile, are horrifying and increase anticipation for this new addition to the Alien franchise.

Fans of the Alien franchise are eagerly awaiting the release of Romulus on August 16, 2024. While they wait, there are plenty of similarly claustrophobic creature features to catch up on. Some of these films are set in one location (similar to being onboard Alien's Nostromo), while others have elements of body horror reminiscent of the famous chest-burster scene. All of the films involve...

At the time, both weren’t exactly loved by critics, but they did have their fans and have each spawned sequels. Today, we’re looking at the first Resident Evil (watch it Here) on this episode of Horror Revisited.

Let’s start back in January 1997. Resident Evil had already released on the Playstation One to critical fame as well as being adored by gamers. A German Production...

Venus De Milo: The Forgotten Female Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have always been a staple of late '80s to '90s geek culture. Four turtle brothers are exposed to mutagen and then raised by a Ninja rat to fight crime and eat pizza in only the most radical of ways. It's so easy to forget that at one point they were once five with a girl turtle, who would go down as one of the most controversial characters in Tmnt history.

In The Beginning...

Venus de Milo was introduced in Fall of 1997 in the first episode of the live action NInja Turtles: The Next Mutation. Besides the fact that she was the only female Tmnt, she stuck out as being the only one named after not a famous painter, but rather a work of art. She donned an aqua colored bandanna that extended down the length of her back to somewhat resemble a ponytail,...

Clash of the Titans 3 Has Been Put on Indefinite Hold
Basil Iwanyk
Back in November 2011, months before the Clash of the Titans sequel Wrath of the Titans opened in theaters, Warner Bros. put Clash of the Titans 3 in development, hiring Dan Mazeau and David Johnson to write the script.

We haven't heard anything regarding the sequel since then, and, according to producer Basil Iwanyk, the project isn't moving forward at this time.

"Not at this point, but you never know. In terms of Clash of the Titans 3, it's one of those situations where we've seen it a million times; a movie will kind of float away and then come back when it's supposed to come back. You'd think that there was three and a half, four years of nonstop Clash of the Titans activity, and I think it is, 'Okay, what's the new idea? How do you make it fresh?' You know, a lot of movies have come out in that world,...

Clash of the Titans 3 Moves Forward at Warner Bros.
Sam Worthington in Clash of the Titans (2010)
Warner Bros. has hired Wrath of the Titans writers Dan Mazeau and David Johnson to write Clash of the Titans 3 just months before Wrath of the Titans hits theaters on March 30, 2012.

Dan Mazeau and David Johnson wrote Wrath of the Titans with Steven Knight, and shared a story credit with Greg Berlanti. Little is known about the story of Clash of the Titans 3, although insiders claim Toby Kebbell's Agenor, a sidekick to Sam Worthington's Perseus in Wrath of the Titans, may figure in heavily to the Clash of the Titans 3 story.

Thomas Dekker in Angels Crest (2011)
Tribeca 2011: "Angels Crest," Reviewed
Thomas Dekker in Angels Crest (2011)
For all the people crying onscreen in "Angels Crest," I never once felt the urge to cry myself. The problem, I think, is not with what's in the film but what's not in the film, and that's specificity: specificity of character and location. Watching this movie feels like watching some very talented actors putting on an acting workshop, "Advanced Grief in Small Town America." On a technical level, their work is superb. But it doesn't resonate on any deeper level.

Based on a novel by Leslie Schwartz, the film is an intense dirge about the residents of a town trying to get on with their lives after a terrible tragedy. Ethan (Thomas Dekker) drives his son Nate out to the mountains to play in the snow, but by the time they get there, Nate's fallen asleep. When a herd of deer passes by, Ethan follows, and leaves Nate locked in...

[Tribeca Review] Angels Crest
Films filled with tragedy are often in high supply at festivals like Tribeca. These noble independent efforts dealing with grief, mourning, and the repercussions of bad decisions don’t have wide audience prospects nor distributors pining to acquire them. The latest in this category, Angels Crest, comes from director Gaby Dellal, tackling a novel by Leslie Schwartz and adapted by Catherine Trieschmann.

In an earnest opening, a young father Ethan (Thomas Dekker) goes on a trip with his three-year-old son Nate. Although he clearly loves his son, in a moment of negligence, he leaves the boy in his car to explore the woods. After returning from this short trip, he finds his truck empty and a long search by the townspeople results in no luck. The next morning, Ethan uncovers the frozen, dead body of his son and rest of the film follows the path of guilt and blame that...

Emily Blunt hits sexy laughs in ‘Wild Target,’ playing at Hollywood Film Festival
HollywoodNews.com: Come meet “Wild Target” Director Jonathan Lynn (“The Whole Nine Yards,” “My Cousin Vinny”) in a Q&A following the Hollywood Film Festival screening on Sunday, Oct. 24, 5 p.m. at the Hollywood ArcLight Cinema. For more info and to buy tickets, click here.

Review: It’s been a while since a breezy, British action comedy has arrived on U.S. shores; their heyday being in the ‘80s when such titles like “A Fish Called Wanda” and “Time Bandits” held their place on the marquee.

When it comes to mobsters, guns and laughs, British director Jonathan Lynn knows a thing or two about crafting a crowd pleasing caper. Lynn is so good at it, Hollywood tapped him for his stylings with “The Whole Nine Yards,” “Sgt. Bilko” and “My Cousin Vinny.” With “Wild Target,” Lynn comfortably returns to the London stomping ground which he made famous with the...
