I’ve listened to many podcasts during the long upstate winter and one of my favorites has been Karina Longworth’s You Must Remember This. It’s billed as a storytelling podcast exploring the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century. I enjoy it because Longworth spins great yarns, with vivid insights, about Hollywood stars and their careers.
But I think there’s more to why it’s popular and why I enjoy it so much. I’m starting to realize that the inevitable ups and downs of yesteryear’s Hollywood Stars are analogous to the rollercoaster rides that categorize so many of today’s careers.
It’s astounding to hear about how a legendary star’s career might have floundered at one point, only to do a complete 360 as he or she gets cast in a successful blockbuster movie. Thundering successes and crushing failures become the...

Now this is the Ron Burgundy way. It turns out that Paul Rudd didn't even know he was going to be reprising his role as Brian Fantana until the rest of the world did too! During a recent interview with Digital Spy, the actor revealed that he had to watch Conan O'Brien in order to hear the news.
"When it was announced, we didn't even really know," he said. "Will Ferrell was on a talk show as Ron Burgundy, and I just remember the day before, I got the message: 'You gotta watch Conan tomorrow night.' That was how I found out." Adding, "A week later we all got together to shoot a teaser trailer for it and it was surreal getting back into the costume and seeing each other. It was really exciting." What's also interesting is that the script wasn't even written when the sequel announcement was made.

Paul Rudd may have been one of the key stars in "Anchorman," but he had to wait to hear the news of "Anchorman 2" just like the rest of us.
"When it was announced, we didn't even really know," Rudd said in an interview with Digital Spy (shown above). "Will Ferrell was on a talk show as Ron Burgundy, and I just remember the day before, I got the message: 'You gotta watch Conan tomorrow night.' That was how I found out."
Ferrell surprised viewers in March of 2012 when he appeared on Conan O'Brien's talk show as his "Anchorman" character Ron Burgundy. Ferrell played a little jazz flute before announcing, "As of oh-nine-hundred hours Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for 'Anchorman.' Breaking: Channel 4 News (aka Ron Burgundy and co.) is coming back to the news desk—and this time, it's officially official.
After a grueling, months-long "will they?" or "won't they?" wait, we have total confirmation from Paramount Pictures (via ComingSoon) that the long-awaited sequel "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" will open in theaters exactly one year from today on December 20, 2013.
So now that we've gotten the alarming, groundbreaking, kind-of-a-big-deal bit of news off of our chests, let's talk about the returning key players. We already know that Will Ferrell's Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy is returning to his anchor chair, and that he'll be joined by the original Action4News team comprised of Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd). The biggest casting surprise, however, is that of fellow SNL alum Kristen Wiig, who was recently rumored to have signed on as Carrel's love interest.

"Based on true events..." "Inspired by a true story..." However you phrase it, one key word always manages to make horror more horrific: true. Sit back and relax as we take a look at some movies based upon the strange, bizarre, and weird.
Sure, much horror carrying the "true story" tag is only loosely based on actual events. Just think of how many extremely different envisionings of the Ed Gein story there are. Everything from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs and hundreds in-between trace their roots to that twisted Wisconsin deviant. But there's just something about knowing even a modicum of the heinous tale unfolding on the screen before your eyes is true that makes it that much more chilling.
Now, say your film is not only based on a true story, but one which involves supernatural, unexplainable events. Now you're really onto something.
