Helped write the screenplay for The Devil's Own (1997) starring Brad Pitt, but due to numerous disagreements and rewrites, he did not receive a screenwriting credit. Pitt stood by Kamen's original screenplay in a Newsweek article.

He used his daughters' names as 3 of his female main characters: The Karate Kid (1984) - Ali (daughter Alessandra, whose nickname is Ali) played by Elisabeth Shue; The Karate Kid Part III (1989) - Jessica, played by Robyn Lively; A Walk in the Clouds (1995) - Victoria, played by Aitana Sánchez-Gijón.

Uncreditedly rewrote The Punisher (1989) starring Dolph Lundgren, which was Robert Kamen's feature producing debut and last effort in that department.
