Continuing a kind of mash-up between 12 Monkeys and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard has entered into its final batch of episodes. At this point, the show has a lot going on: from a rogue Soong (Brent Spiner) to a new hybrid Borg Queen (Alison Pill And Annie Wersching), and of course, the still unexplained mystery of Q’s vanishing powers. But, for the most part, in Episode 7, “Monsters,” the show slows down. Here, we’re in Jean-Luc’s mind for about half the episode, which could have triggered a clip-show episode a la Tng’s “Shades of Gray” but thankfully didn’t.

Instead, Picard brought a batch of deep cuts and easter eggs from the entire Star Trek franchise, and a few other sci-fi franchises along the way, too.

The series, which debuted April 2, was set in the sleepy fishing town of Port Canaan, where 47 refugees had mysteriously arrived, claiming to be fleeing a war that takes place 180 years in the future. Steve Zahn (Treme) starred as Jude Ellis, the well-meaning sheriff investigating his town’s bizarre events. Sandrine Holt (House of Cards), Natalie Martinez (Apb) and Jay Karnes (The Shield) rounded out the cast.

ABC is not moving forward with a second season of drama series The Crossing.

The Crossing premiered April 2 with American Idol as a lead-in, but that episode of the revived singing-competition series happened to match a series-low demo rating for a regular telecast. Post-Idol, the midseason drama managed to eke out a win in the 10 Pm hour with a 1.0 and 5.45 million viewers. It outperformed same night last year for ABC by double digits but fell short of previous week’s The Good Doctor wrapper and its season average, though that still left it ABC’s second-most-watched Monday 10 Pm debut, behind Doctor, in nearly three years.

ABC has picked up four new series from its sister ABC Studios, including a new drama from Shonda Rhimes’ company, a drama about saving the world (starring Jason Ritter), a series about refugees… from America, and comedy that sounds like it might take a few cues from the recently installed White House inhabitant.

In “The Mayor,” Brandon Micheal Hall plays an aspiring young rapper, Courtney Rose, who decides – as a publicity stunt – to run for mayor. He did it solely to generate buzz and become rich and famous. Instead, he is actually elected mayor, an outcome he never predicted. Now he must lean on his mother (Yvette Nicole Brown) and friends, including Valentina (Lea Michele) to become the mayor he didn’t think he wanted to be.

From the very beginning Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) was far from a good man: we’d watched him kill a fellow officer, set up a massive robbery, lie and manipulate Strike Team members who trusted him, and countless other crimes that were horrifying and unimaginable.

The final season of The Shield saw Vic scrambling to hang onto the very fragile world he’d created as old lies come to light. His ex-wife Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) has learned of his crimes and agrees to work with Dutch (Jay Karnes) and...

If you’ve had any of the following complaints about season 6 of Sons of Anarchy – not enough action, not enough shoot outs, not enough blood, not enough lies, not enough twists, not enough beef – then fret not. Kurt Sutter has heard you, responded, and given you enough of everything and anything that you may have found wanting.

The Sons of Anarchy are continuing on their downward spiral, which has now become more of a sharp decline since the domino theory seems to be in full effect. Once again, Kurt Sutter has revealed his bitter reluctance to let go of his days as a writer on The Shield. Though the former FX series ended back in 2008 and Sutter had moved on to starting up and running his own show on FX, he has been bringing back the stars of The Shield for little guest spots on Sons of Anarchy for years. At some point you just have to let things go. If Jack from Lost can learn to let go, certainly Sutter can finally release the death grip he has on the days he spent writing on The Shield. Alas, Sutter has brought yet another Shield alum to Soa.

With such alums of that FX hit as Jay Karnes, Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Benito Martinez, David Rees Snell and Kenny Johnson all having appeared over the years on Sons of Anarchy, Entertainment Weekly now confirms that Cch Pounder will come on board for multiple episode this fall.

She'll portray a district attorney who crosses path with Jax and company.

Pounder will debut on episode two of Sons of Anarchy Season 6.

She joins an impressive guest list that includes Drea de Matteo, Jimmy Smits and Donal Logue, all of whom appeared last year, and Kim Dickens, who will pop up as a Madame.

Another veteran of "The Shield" is making her way to "Sons of Anarchy."

Cch Pounder, who earned an Emmy nomination for playing Detective Claudette Wyms on the former FX drama, will have a recurring part on Season 6 of "Soa," EW reports. She'll first show up in the season's second episode.

The casting reunites Pounder with "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter, who was a writer and producer on "The Shield." Much of the regular cast of that show, including Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Benito Martinez, Kenny Johnson and David Rees Snell, has since appeared on "Sons."

On "Sons of Anarchy," Pounder will play a prosecutor who crosses paths with Samcro.

Pounder currently has a recurring part on "Warehouse 13" and co-stars in the movie "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," which is due in theaters in August.

"Sons of Anarchy" begins its sixth season on FX in the fall.

Another butt-kicker from The Shield is coming to Charming.

EW has learned exclusively that the Emmy-nominated Cch Pounder will join FX’s Sons of Anarchy for a multi-episode arc. She will play Tyne Patterson, a San Joaquin County District Attorney who runs head first into the area’s violent biker ways.

Pounder will first appear in the second episode of Soa, which will return in the fall.

Pounder, who played Detective Claudette Wyms from 2002 to 2008, is the seventh Shield star to guest star on Soa. The others were Jay Karnes, Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Benito Martinez, David Rees Snell, and Kenny Johnson.

After leaving us with a rare “meh” outing, ABC’s Scandal returned strong on Thursday, serving an episode that revisited the wounds Olivia and Fitz both are nursing, shed further light on Jake Ballard’s agenda/capabilities, gave the White House a big “W” in the wake of a loss, and ended with a gladiator in the crosshairs.

After far too long off the air, Scandal Season 2 resumes tonight with a pair of top-notch guest stars.

Talk about surprise casting, this juicy morsel is kind of like a sudden jab to the face. Mike Tyson is coming to an episode of Law & Order: Svu. The guest role is the former boxer’s acting debut. Watch out world.

Get this. Mike Tyson’s upcoming guest role on Svu isn’t your typical light work either. Deadline calls the part “dark” and “dramatic”. Tyson will bring to life a character by the name of Reggie Rhodes. Rhodes is a murderer sentenced to death. What put the man on that terrible path? Indications are, he’s the result of an atrocious childhood. Stories like his are probably a dime a dozen in the New York penal system, but either way, his particular case will grab the attention of Detective Benson and defense attorney Bayard Ellis, whose recurring role comes from Last Resort actor Andre Braugher.

Also this season, TV Guide reports, former Lost, Romeo + Juliet and The Matrix Reloaded actor Harold Perrineau will guest star. Lost star Harold Perrineau is one of several actors to have signed up for a role on Law & Order: Svu. Perrineau will play a career criminal suspected of rape and murder in the February 6 episode of the long-running crime procedural, TV Guide reports. The 49-year-old actor recently appeared on FX drama Sons of Anarchy and currently stars opposite Brian Austin Green in TBS comedy-drama Wedding Band. The Shield star Jay Karnes will also appear in Perrineau's episode as the fiancé of one of the victims, while Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden will reprise her role as FBI agent Dana Lewis, (more)...

Nia Vardalos will guest star on an upcoming episode of "Law & Order: Svu." The "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" star will appear in "Criminal Hatred," the Wednesday, Jan. 30 episode on NBC at 9 p.m. Est.

According to NBC, Vardalos will play Counselor Minonna Efron, whose client is on trial for assault and murder. Vardalos' character is described as "disorganized," which makes D.A. Barba (recurring guest star Raul Esparza) think he's got an easy win, but the character winds up thrwarting him at every turn.

This has left the government trying other, indirect methods to get to the crew and submarine, such as using Paul Wells to get to Xo Sam through Christine or issuing an order to the crew to arrest the top brass on the sub as war criminals. It's Monday morning, and the cast and crew of ABC's Thursday submarine drama "Last Resort" are staging a battle on the white Hawaiian sand. In the episode scheduled to air this week (Thursday, Oct. 25), officers of the ballistic missile submarine USS Colorado, decked out in dress whites, are negotiating to return home.

By the time the scene is over, Rear Adm. Arthur Shepard (recurring star Bruce Davison) and the secretary of defense (recurring star Jay Karnes, who starred in "The Shield," an earlier show from "Last Resort" executive producer Shawn Ryan) are a little the worse for wear.

In the show's pilot, Capt. Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) questioned an order -- sent through a secondary channel -- to fire nukes on Pakistan.

Ever since the premiere of Last Resort, the issues and factors that have affected the USS Colorado have all happened in quick succession. In the span of a week, the submarine’s crew have found themselves going from respectable members of American society to international criminals, caught between a rock and a hard place, and going up against an adversary who is not only much more powerful, but whose orders they unquestioningly obeyed until very recently. The death of Redman at the hands of Serrat has only served to heighten the tension, so a boiling point spillover was inevitable, and the Us government’s attempts to accelerate the process not exactly helping. "Voluntold" featured the crew of the USS Colorado deciding who would stay and who would go home and, as the Cob said, you'd think it would go something like this:

He asks the men if they want to go home, the only answer he's going to get is where's the boat and how many bags can I take. | permalink

But not so fast because who could bail on Andre Braugher after he spoke about honor and duty? The man certainly knows how to deliver a speech. Still, most of this Last Resort crew wanted to go home…and some of them were willing to kill to get the privilege.

I was impressed with Grace and Sam when someone opened fire on them and Marcus. Grace tried to bodily cover her Captain from the shots fired while Sam ran directly at their assailant.

Again, Sam and Grace worked for the good...

Last Resort remains a mixed bag for this sardonic reviewer; I found the first half of Eight Bells to be thoroughly riveting and watching Marcus and Sam navigate their way between a duo of destroyers was great TV. The second half wobbled slightly but overall it was a solid passing. My problem remains that I don’t have a burning desire to see the next episode any time soon.

From the get go, this episode displayed loyalty under fire. Of course the crew are going to be restless and they’re going to have questions. They’re on an alien island far away from their homes and they’re being depicted as enemies of the state. The growing unrest prompts Marcus to release Joe from the ‘brig’ and, so long...

"Last Resort" has cast actor Jay Hernandez ("The Rookie," "World Trade Center") in an eight-episode arc on ABC's new thriller, reports EW.

Hernandez isn't expected to share screentime with Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman, whose renegade nuclear submarine crew has set up camp at a tropical island. Instead, his role as the charismatic Paul Wells will be "testing the loyalty" of Speedman's estranged wife (Jessy Schram).

ABC previously announced the casting of another homefront character: As the Secretary of Defense, "The Shield" vet Jay Karnes is reuniting with "Last Resort" co-creator Shawn Ryan.

"Last Resort" debuts Thursday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

ABC’s sub thriller Last Resort is adding another character. Actor Jay Hernandez (Hostel, Six Degrees) has joined the cast in a significant role on the show.

Hernandez has signed on for an eight-episode arc playing Paul Wells, a handsome and seemingly nice-guy charmer who tests the loyalty of Scott Speedman’s character’s estranged wife in the series (played by Jessy Schram).

The casting comes on the heels of Last Resort adding Jay Karnes, a fan favorite from Last Resort co-creator Shawn Ryan’s FX drama The Shield. Last Resort premieres on ABC on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Raising Hope is thisclose to nabbing one hot mama.

Melanie Griffith is in final talks to play the mother of Sabrina (portrayed by Shannon Woodward) on the hit Fox comedy, E! Online reports. While the deal isn’t done just yet, the site hears the Working Girl would appear in multiple episodes during Season 3, which debuts Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c.
