Notaro was diagnosed with cancer in both breasts on July 30, 2012 and had a double mastectomy with no reconstructive surgery. Notaro opted out of chemo but decided to continue treatment with hormone blocking. After a show in Philadelphia, Notaro was hospitalized and required surgery for a cyst. As of June 2016 she is cancer-free.

Did not release a stand-up comedy album until she was forty years old.

The nickname Tig was given to her by her brother when they were young.

(October 24, 2015) Following a ten-month-long engagement, she married her girlfriend of two years, Stephanie Allynne, in her hometown of Pass Christian, Mississippi with stars like Sarah Silverman and Alicia Silverstone in attendance.

In the 1990s, she founded and ran Tignation Promotions, a talent booking and management company in Denver, Colorado.

Has twin sons (born via surrogate) with her wife Stephanie Allynne - Max and Finn Notaro (b.June 26, 2016).

Notaro was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and grew up in Mississippi and Texas.

Appeared on the American talent show Last Comic Standing (2003) in 2006. She made it through the initial auditions stage and performed in front of a live audience in the second round but did not make it into the house.

She is of Italian/Sicilian (from her paternal grandfather), Irish, English, French, and German descent.

Great-granddaughter of John James Fitzpatrick, who was Mayor of New Orleans from 1892 to 1896.
