WrestleMania 40’s night one in Philadelphia was a spectacle of high-octane wrestling that lived up to the grandeur expected of such a storied event. The evening was headlined by a tag team match featuring Roman Reigns and The Rock against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, which delivered an electrifying performance, setting a dramatic tone for the rest Wrestlemania weekend! The stakes were incredibly high, with the outcome influencing the main event of night two, adding a layer of strategic depth to the match. Roman Reigns and The Rock took the win and if Cody Rhodes is going to “finish the story” he will be playing now by the Bloodline’s rules for night two!

The Bloodline’s presence was felt throughout the night, particularly in the emotionally charged match between estranged twin brothers Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso, which showcased a personal family drama unfolding in the ring.

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Miracle on 34th Street Fight – R-Truth def. Jd McDonagh The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Miracle on 34th Street Fight pitting R-Truth against Jd McDonagh carried the stipulation of “the loser leaves The Judgment Day.” The free-for-all incorporated Candy Cane Kendo Sticks, straps, tables, the steel steps, a fire extinguisher, Christmas trees, and interference by “Dirty” Dom Mysterio. R-Truth drove his opponent off the top rope and through a table for the victory.
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Intercontinental Title Match – Gunther def. The Miz The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In a critical moment of the Intercontinental Title Match, The Miz avoided Gunther’s attack at ringside that caused The Ring General to damage his...

Welcome to this review of Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary 2021, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and this looks to be a great card, at least on paper. I…wait…it’s not Slammiversary yet…it’s SmackDown! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Son of a b–ch! I wanna review Slammiversary! SmackDown?! Wait. This is 2002! Paul Heyman still runs the show. The SmackDown six are ruling the roster. Brock Lesnar is having the best rookie year possible. The Undertaker isn’t a f–kin’ corpse. Yes! This s–t…is 2021! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Baron Corbin! Noooooooooo!!!!!!!! Godddddddd daaaaaaaaaaamn iiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Wait. The crowds are back. Sweet. Well, it ain’t 2002, but if I can suffer through Ron Killings getting blown up on Raw, then this will be fine. Let’s rock. WWE Friday Night SmackDown starts…on Fridays at 8:00 pm Eastern on Fox. The review commences!

Welcome to this weeks review of Smackdown Live, this blue brands go-home show on the road to Crown Jewel…Where there’s a certain WWE superstar set to be written out of the controversial event tonight.
Match #1: WWE Champion Aj Styles def. Daniel Bryan The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
Per the order of Shane-o-Mac, WWE Champion Aj Styles and Daniel Bryan threw down with the title on the line three days early on SmackDown Live. A contentious atmosphere permeated through the arena with each Superstar hellbent on walking out of Atlanta with the WWE Title over their shoulder. The two wasted no time bringing the energy, exchanging several high-impact moves in the early goings. None were bigger than a suicide dive by Bryan to Styles on the floor that definitely did its damage to Aj, but Bryan appeared to tweak his knee.
Soon, The Phenomenal One targeted Bryan’s harmed knee,...

Welcome to this week’s Smackdown review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have… The Miz! Yeah, I know. Who cares? Actually, I like The Miz, but he doesn’t sell tickets, so it’s hard to get folks excited about a guy who isn’t a star. Oh, legendary film producer Gary Kurtz died. Kurtz worked with George Lucas all the way through The Empire Strikes Back and was very talented. Kurtz could be accused of being a bit too stubborn on many occasions, but he was passionate and seemed to be a good man. If The Miz had produced Star Wars, it would have just been him licking things for two hours. Let’s wrestle, Chico!

Ron ‘R-Truth’ Killings was the first black Nwa World Heavyweight Champion, a title he held twice in 2002 and 2004. He’s a nineteen year veteran of the squared circle, a supremely athletic wrestler with a fantastic, unique look. A rapper since the age of sixteen, Killings has mic skills out the wazoo, and the potential to run the upper midcard of any wrestling promotion in history.
And Ron Killings does crazy better than almost any wrestler alive.
Over the last eight years since re-signing with WWE, R-Truth has displayed a hitherto undreamed of talent for comedy… but not WWE’s usual broad, childish sense of humour, typified by gay jokes and constant references to heels having bad breath.
R-Truth’s insane skits and turbo-charged ranting on the mic are character-based comedy, delivered with near perfect timing. He took the irritating What chants and based the rhythm of his promos around them,...

The WWE was quick to spoof Steve Harvey‘s Miss Universe disaster at their own annual awards show on Monday night. Just 24 hours after Harvey mistakenly declared Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez the victor instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, WWE Superstar R-Truth took to the stage to present Diva of the Year at the awards special airing on USA Network. R-Truth, whose real name is Ron Killings, announced an upset win for Paige, who came out and started her acceptance speech before he confessed to a “miscommunication” and announced the real winner as Nikki Bella. Abyss is one of Tna’s biggest, and longest-tenured stars; in fact, he and James Storm are the only wrestlers still on the roster that appeared on their very first show back in 2002. It’s been a long, bumpy road since then, and most of the company’s early stars like Aj Styles, Ron Killings, Alex Shelley, Petey Williams and even Jeff Jarrett have left for greener pastures, but the Monster appears to be in for the long haul.
He’s a real foundational figure, and his presence has been a constant, even as regime and roster changes have rocked the promotion. His loyalty is pretty puzzling, given some of the startlingly bad angles and matches Tna has stuck him in over the years.
He’s been both jilted lover and psychotic stalker, both innocent victim and malevolent beast. He’s been through more contrived family drama than...

WWE superstar R-Truth (aka Ron Killings) and former WWE diva Maria Kanellis have signed with Advanced Management for representation, TheWrap has learned. With their flair for theatrics and toned physiques, wrestlers have been branching out into film and television more than ever lately, as they've been in high demand in both mediums. Not only has former wrestling superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has blossomed into one of Hollywood's most reliable leading men, but Dave Bautista stars in Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Hornswoggle plays the title character in Lionsgate's “Leprechaun: Origins.” Also read: Why the Rock Is the First Pro Wrestler (or.

Wrestling has a long history of catchphrases from both heels and faces. Some of them are great. Some of them are clever, fit the person saying them perfectly, have originality, and get the crowd excited. They don’t have to be too complicated. In fact, they should be simple, so everyone can follow along and enjoy them.
Then, there are the bad ones. You’ve all heard them. They don’t make any real sense at all. They don’t really fit the character in any way. They’re just… bad. Sometimes, it’s a face delivering them, and other times, it’s a heel doing the work. There are no special qualifications, in that regard. They don’t even have to be attached to poor workers. Sometimes, the best wrestlers can have the worst catchphrases. Hell, the catchphrases don’t all necessarily ruin careers. They’re just,...

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.
Differences in methodology from Morris
I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

We have arrived at the final pay per view of 2013, TLC 2013. This show boasts, what is being promoted by WWE, one of the most important matches in the history of WWE and/or professional wrestling, the unification match between the WWE Champion Randy Orton and the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena.
A quick Fyi, because I didn’t personally witness the pre-show, but Fandango was victorious over Dolph Ziggler in the kick-off match, after interference from Summer Rae. The show begins proper with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon coming onto the stage and putting over the importance of the main event and the history of the belts that will be hanging over the ring in the TLC match. The first match of the night begins…

After reports over the weekend emerged that a Survivor Series main eventer had failed the company’s Wellness Policy, WWE.com has announced that R-Truth will be suspended for thirty days.
The official statement on the WWE website says;
“In accordance with the Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Ron Killings (R-Truth) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s policy.”
If you watched Raw last night you probably knew this was coming. A strange angle finished the show where The Miz and R-Truth had a falling out, forcing The Miz to turn on Truth and laying him to the ground. It came across as hokey on the t.v. but I suppose it’s served the purpose of writing R-Truth out of the storyline picture and allowing The Miz to move on to other things.
We can probably expect now a build for John Cena vs.
