During World War II when
Guthrie McClintic went overseas to stage the all GI production of Winterset he cast the heretofore inexperienced Martin Kingsley in the colorful gangster role of Trock. Kingsley handled his role so handsomely that the famous Broadway director promised him a role in his first production after the young GI's discharge. McClintic kept his promise, and cast Kingsley in his November 1947 Broadway stage play Antony and Cleopatra.
