Sean Kinney(I)
- Stunts
- Producer
- Actor
Sean Kinney hails from Fort Worth, Texas, where he started performing at the
tender age of seven. For his first gig, he performed a pantomime as
part of a show at his grade school. The act got a standing ovation, and
Sean was hooked on show biz. After seeing a Charlie Chaplin film he set
his mind to being a physical comic filmmaker just like Chaplin. He
landed his first lead as Ebenezer Scrooge at the decrepit old age of
ten, and it started a steady string of community theatre and school
productions. He went to Texas Wesleyan University as a double Armstrong
Scholarship recipient, for music and theater. After appearing on
"Walker Texas Ranger", he moved to Los Angeles. He went to work for the
legendary Roger Corman to learn the production side of film, but never
stopped performing his comedy routines, Improv and working in stunts.
Sean's direction has expanded from stage to include commercials,
documentaries, music videos and feature films.
Sean produced music videos for such stars as Robert Palmer, Dede (#1 on MTV International in Scandinavia and Japan), and Riddle the Sphinx (winning 3 Tellys and an Accolade Award). He directed and starred in the short film "First Impressions", a five minute silent black and white Vaudeville comedy that premiered at the World Famous Silent Movie Theater in Los Angeles, & received the Second Best of the Fest at the 1996 Tacoma Tortured Artist Film Festival. Sean also co-developed (with twelve others through improv) the long-running Los Angeles cult comedy musical hit, "Butt Pirates of the Caribbean", along with the Troubadour Theatre Company, which received a 1998 Garland Award for Outstanding Performance of the Year. Sean honed his craft in the commercial world, with one of the commercials winning a Clio Award in the year of our lord 1997, as well as the Grand Prix Award at Cannes Lions Awards. He also won some Golden Grahams at the International Tournee of Breakfast (1998 ¼).
Sean regularly performed with the sketch comedy group, ACTUAL SIZE!, that he also directed and wrote for; the troupe was featured in the Big Stinkin' Comedy Festival and the NoHo Arts Festival, then regularly at the world famous Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd. Sean also was the Co-Creator and Co-Producer of the first comedy festival in Hollywood, the Hollywood HaHa Festival, and was the live Mascot "Uncle Clyde" in the long running Uncle Clyde's Comedy Contest, which he also co-created. Sean's first feature film, "Rubbernecking", aka "Accidents Don't Happen", which he co-directed, co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in, was featured in the 1999 IFFM, the 2000 New York Independent International Film & Video Festival, and the 2001 AngelCiti Film Festival. Aside from all these International Awards, Sean's most prized award is the 1975 Gold Star he received from his kindergarten teacher.
After enjoying numerous successes, people began asking him to consult on projects. As a result, he opened 1 Stooge Entertainment, known for being a top notch creative consulting company, providing unique ideas and solutions to studios and independents for all types of production, advertising, marketing and branding needs, with a focus on comic twists and stylized action.
With his unique lateral thinking techniques, he has landed contracts and jobs with just about every studio in Hollywood including Disney, Miramax, Touchstone, Pixar, ESPN, Hollywood Pictures, ABC, Disney's Classics, Marvel, Warner Brothers, ABC Sports, Buena Vista, Disney Creative, & even Disney Technical Services.
He has also taken time to give back in his career by teaching Improv Comedy, and also as an Adjunct Professor at the New York Film Academy in their international program; teaching Directing Actors and Editing.
Recently Sean has won three Telly Awards (one a People's Choice) for "Professional Pretender," a music video for the band Riddle the Sphinx, which also won an Honorable Mention at LA Reels Film Festival and an Accolade Award. He also won a Telly for his Viral Commercial for "Johnson Instruments". He continues to perform on stage, seen frequently in Los Angeles, & continues working freelance as a Writer, Director and Actor.
Sean hopes to bring the Vaudeville style back to the Silver Screen.
