A new report suggests that Whiplash and Babylon director Damien Chazelle’s Evel Knievel movie will film this summer, with Leonardo DiCaprio to star.
It was first reported last December that Damien Chazelle, director of Whiplash, First Man and La La Land, has plans to make a film about stunt rider Evel Knievel. Despite his own fears that he may have unofficially wound up in ‘director jail’ following the financial disappointment of his Hollywood epic, Babylon, he was said to be in talks to with Paramount over the production, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to take on the title role.
Three months on, and Chazelle’s currently-untitled film appears to be moving along nicely. According to Puck (via Far Out Magazine), negotiations are underway to have DiCaprio star as Knievel, with filming said to be planned for the summer of 2025.
A few details about the film itself have also emerged. One...

With this in mind, it is not surprising that he has done adaptations and movies based on real-life countless times in his career. Most recently, DiCaprio could be going down another path with his career, off the Snake River Canyon on a motorcycle. Only there is one other person who would be perfectly suited for the role.

Leonardo DiCaprio has spent years delivering one stellar performance after another, yet for the longest time, the Oscars kept slipping through his fingers. It wasn’t until The Revenant that he finally took home the gold, but let’s be honest, his vast library of work with Martin Scorsese alone could have earned him one ages ago.

For decades, Leonardo DiCaprio has kept Hollywood on its toes by delivering the perfect blend of tabloid-worthy bad-boy charm and being idolized as a timeless movie star of classic and legendary films. His rise to fame following James Cameron’s 1997 opus Titanic was not in vain as the actor then kept proving himself as the industry’s next figurative golden goose.

In the immediate aftermath of Titanic, DiCaprio threw himself into a rigorous rite of passage to challenge his reputation as a heartthrob by working with the biggest names that the industry had to offer. Thus followed Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, Buz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, Christopher Nolan’s Inception, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Oscar-winning The Revenant.

Margot Robbie has starred in many acclaimed films and delivered incredible performances. Last year, she co-produced and starred in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which broke several box office records and became a pop cultural phenomenon. Her breakout role was in The Wolf of Wall Street, where she worked with Martin Scorsese.
However, Babylon was one Robbie film that was hated upon release but has since gained acceptance from fans. Damien Chazelle’s exploration of the Golden Age of Hollywood and all the excess it promoted was a big-budget disaster at the box office and received polarizing reviews. However, Robbie defended the film and said she did not understand the slander.

Damien Chazelle’s follow-up to 2022’s Babylon could see Leonardo DiCaprio playing the legendary stunt rider Evel Knievel for Paramount.
Babylon was a bruising experience for its director, Damien Chazelle. The 2022 ode to early Hollywood largesse only made back around $63m of its reported $100m budget, presumably leaving Paramount somewhat in the red. While the film itself wasn’t lacking in merits, audiences simply didn’t show up in force for the film and that left Chazelle publicly wondering if he was now in the dreaded ‘director’s jail’.
According to a new report from Daniel Richtman (via World Of Reel), however, Chazelle could be back with a new project – and a high-profile one at that. According to RIchtman, Chazelle is again partnering with Paramount to bring a biopic of the legendary stunt rider Evel Knievel to the screen, with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. As a matter of fact, many fans want the network to cancel the series outright. Much of it has to do with Mike Wolfe’s recent actions.
Here is what fans want the popular reality series canceled and what might be next for Mike Wolfe.

Back in my day, we had daredevils like Evil Knievel and Super Dave Osborne. They’d defy death while entertaining crowds of cheering fans, risking life and limb for applause. I never wanted to be a daredevil, but I did appreciate their bravery and risk-taking approach to life. Jay Baruchel is a daredevil enthusiast, too, and he’s reuniting with Goon’s Michael Dowse for The Stunt Driver, an upcoming comedy about the daredevil stuntman Ken Carter.
According to Deadline, The Stunt Driver revolves around “The Mad Canadian” Carter, who “attempts to execute the boldest maneuver of his career during the 1970s, launching a rocket car off a 90-foot-high ramp across the St. Lawrence River. The stunt would have him jump from Canada into the United States, covering more than a mile.” The film “follows Carter’s quest to make his seemingly impossible dream a reality, chronicling his preparation for...

All-new episodes of American Pickers are back for fans to watch on the History Channel this month, but that news is bittersweet for some.
As Monsters and Critics have reported, Frank Fritz, one of the American Pickers stars, passed away on September 30, 2024, after a long illness.
Frank Fritz was part of the original team alongside Mike Wolfe when the series premiered in 2010. He left the series in 2020 for health reasons and could not return to the popular show.
Season 26 of the famous American Pickers show, which features Mike Wolfe traveling around looking for antiques, is about to premiere once again without Frank’s involvement.
Mike Wolfe has shared bits and pieces of the upcoming shows that feature Evel Knievel memorabilia but has been admittedly reticent about it since Franks’s death.
Ahead of the new season, Mike shared his thoughts about the show and Frank not being able to be involved again before his death.

No 1970s car exudes more Hollywood allure than the Ferrari 365 Gtb/4, known colloquially as the “Daytona.” Not only was it coveted by movie stars and rock gods, but it had several memorable screen appearances itself. One played a significant role in Robert Altman’s Elliott Gould-starring ode to Film Noir, The Long Goodbye. Perhaps most famously, a convertible version starred in 1976’s A Star Is Born, with Kris Kristofferson at the wheel and Barbra Streisand in the passenger seat.
Now, just as that movie inspired an acclaimed remake a few years back, the 365 Gtb/4 is having a revival. Ferrari design head Flavio Manzoni likes to suggest that all cars from the Italian exotic automaker are of-the-moment, reflecting their time. But he has not been shy in discussing the historical inspiration for the brand’s new, $459,000 two-seater, the 12Cilindri. Manzoni has said quite clearly that the front end and overall shape echo the Daytona.

Let’s talk about the monkey in the room.
Like, literally.
Better Man, Paramount’s new Robbie Williams biopic that premiered at TIFF 2024 this week, had a surprise in store for filmgoers: Williams is portrayed by… a monkey. Not a metaphoric monkey. Not an occasional dream-sequence monkey. An actual CG monkey. For the entire movie. For every stage of Williams’ life. No human actor. Just a simian.
This is a bold choice. (It sprang from Williams telling director Michael Gracey that he felt like a performing monkey; The Greatest Showman helmer ran with it in a bid to upend the musical biopic.)
Of course, the choice comes with some benefits too.
“When people will say ‘that didn’t happen here and that didn’t happen here.’ Well I’m not a… monkey, either,” Williams told THR in Toronto.
Beyond keeping the truth-squadders at bay, the movie (out late December) will...

Van Partible's animated series "Johnny Bravo" debuted on the Cartoon Network on July 14, 1997. It was one of four new shows that Cartoon Network premiered in 1997 and 1998 that served as a declaration for a new creator-forward direction the network was taking. "Johnny Bravo" debuted alongside Genndy Tartakovsky's "Dexter's Laboratory," David Feiss' "Cow and Chicken," and Craig McCracken's "The Powerpuff Girls." In 1999, that lineup would be complemented by "Ed, Edd n Eddy," and "Courage the Cowardly Dog." These shows were all quirky and idiosyncratic and attracted a generation of fans.
"Johnny Bravo" was about a barrel-chested, Elvis-voiced lug who lived with his mother and attempted to find love in the big city. His buffoonery and vanity, however, usually kept him single. Johnny was played by prolific voice actor Jeff Bennett, who has been acting professionally since 1991. Van Partible had been working on a version of the show as early...

Keanu Reeves' most successful movie at the box office is Toy Story 4, which made over $1 billion worldwide. The John Wick franchise also surpassed $1 billion at the box office, but it required all four movies to achieve this milestone. Despite the success of these films, Reeves' most iconic roles are in The Matrix franchise, with The Matrix Reloaded being his second highest-grossing movie.
Keanu Reeves has been acting for nearly 40 years, but only one of his movies has made over $1 billion at the box office. Shockingly, the movie to cross the milestone is not from a franchise that Reeves has consistently been the face of. The Canadian, who has become one of the most affable figures in Hollywood, got his acting start in 1984 in TV. After starring in a few smaller show and movie roles, Reeves had his breakthrough with 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. In time, Reeves...

Revered and reviled U.S. diplomat Henry Kissinger, whose death at 100 on Nov. 29 was met with the widespread view that his realpolitik was responsible for some of this country’s worst global war crimes, loved American celebrity — both his own, an expression of state power, as well as that of others, especially performers. He was “the ultimate starfucker,” noted Daniel Drezner, professor of international politics at the Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, in an appraisal published earlier this year on the occasion of Kissinger’s centennial.
Prior to meeting President Richard Nixon in 1967, Kissinger made frequent trips to Santa Monica to consult with the Rand Corporation, a global policy think tank. But after being appointed as national security adviser by the newly elected president in 1969, his profile skyrocketed — and the glitz of Hollywood was within reach. Fascinated since childhood with American popular culture, Kissinger pursued the...

Rockstar is arguably the defining studio of the last 20+ years of gaming. During that time, Rockstar essentially reshaped our collective idea of what a game could be by introducing millions to phrases like “open-world” and “sandbox” while continuously pushing the envelope in terms of mature content. Even after other developers started to make more “Rockstar-like” games, Rockstar found ways to raise the bar and show why they are one of the great blockbuster developers in gaming history.
While Rockstar’s library is defined by those open-world masterpieces, the studio’s catalog is much deeper and more interesting than it always gets credit for. Dig a little deeper into Rockstar’s history, and you’ll find a variety of games that have largely been forgotten. Though some deserve to be lost to time, others are begging to be rediscovered (or discovered) as they are absolutely worthy of that logo that we...

The news never stops, but for Jake Tapper, it does occasionally share time with other creative pursuits.
Today, what’s lured him away from the CNN studio (temporarily) is the promotion of his new book. He’s seated on the patio of The Pendry, a West Hollywood social club meets hotel, drinking the first of several iced coffees, dressed casually — comparatively speaking, for a person whose day job requires suits pressed within an inch of their life — in a breezy button-down shirt and Air Jordans. He arrived early for the breakfast interview, due in part to the habits of a longtime live news anchor, but also because he’s on East Coast time, rising hours before most of Los Angeles.
Tapper is releasing a third novel in his budding literary empire, which began with 2018’s The Hellfire Club, a political thriller that followed young Congressman Charlie Marder, and his wife,...

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, announced today that it has acquired what its curators describe as “a significant collection of items and archives” from the late filmmaker Sam Peckinpah, best known for Western cinema classics such as “The Wild Bunch,” “Ride the High Country” and “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.”
The donation to the Museum comes courtesy of filmmaker/historian Lathan McKay, who Michael R. Grauer, curator of the Museum’s Cowboy Collections and Western Art, describes as “incredibly dedicated to Sam Peckinpah’s legacy,” and who chose the Oklahoma City institution because of the Museum’s commitment to ensure Peckinpah’s belongs and papers would be “preserved, cataloged, researched, interpreted and studied with great respect.”

The CW’s fall 2023-2024 primetime schedule looks nothing like the network’s previous lineups. Gone are all the comic book-inspired superhero series, and in their place are British and Canadian imports along with unscripted reality shows.
All American is the only original The CW scripted series to appear on the upcoming season’s roster. Walker, which was recently renewed for a shorter season, will return midseason. And the network still hasn’t decided what to do about Gotham Knights, All American: Homecoming, or Superman & Lois.

Continuing to prove himself one of the nicest stars in Hollywood, Keanu Reeves has gone viral again with an adorable video of him talking about his Toy Story 4 role with a young fan. Released in 2019, Toy Story 4 saw the Matrix and John Wick star provide the voice of Duke Caboom, an amicable Canadian stunt bike toy who suffers from low self-esteem from being unable to perform his advertised stunts. Duke Caboom’s resemblance to the real-life stuntman Evel Knievel would eventually land Disney in legal trouble after a lawsuit was brought against the entertainment giant, only later to be dismissed in court.
Adding to a growing list of heart-warming anecdotes about the beloved star, a new video has surfaced online via IGN’s TikTok account. Showing Reeves being approached by a young fan, the actor launches into an impression of his Toy Story 4 character as he signs...

Def Leppard are set to perform at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip as part of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on August 10th, and their set will be immediately preceded by a double-daredevil stunt involving a bike jump over a high-wire act.
The event is being billed as “The Death Wire Daredevil Spectacular” and will see motorcycle Wall of Death daredevil Kyle Ives jump a motorcycle over Blake the Flying Wallenda, who will attempt one of the longest high-wire walks of his career — “The Death Wire Walk” — over the Sturgis Buffalo Chip amphitheater with no safety netting. If anyone’s capable of such a feat, it’s these two: Blake and Kyle are the descendants of extreme sports godfathers The Flying Wallenda Brothers and the Ives Brothers, respectively.

Harrison Ford has always been a roll-with-the-punches type of guy. He's famous for doing his own stunts, and frequently getting injured in the process. He's broken his ankle, bruised his ribs, and, on the set of "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," suffered a herniated disc while riding an elephant. While making "Raiders of the Lost Ark," he tore his Acl when he got run over by a plane. At the age of 79, he messed up his shoulder rehearsing a fight scene for "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." He's basically the Evel Knievel of American movie stars.
The overriding theme of Ford's career is that nothing comes easy (he didn't even have a real acting career until he was in his thirties), and the fact that he's still plugging away it as he enters his eighties suggests he's more than okay with a little struggle. This unflappable...

Before Chris Evans grabbed a star-spangled shield and donned the mantle of Captain America, and even before the late, great, B-movie maestro Albert Pyun directed the straight-to-video 1990 "Captain America" movie, there was Universal's failed "Captain America" feature-length television film, which aired in 1979. Now a footnote in the history of superhero cinema, director Rod Holcomb's "Captain America" fits neatly next to the studio's 1978 "Dr. Strange" adaptation as similar attempts at seeing how Marvel's comic book characters could (extremely loosely) translate to low-budget, live-action TV material. Unfortunately for Holcomb, the project was a bit of an embarrassment.
Holcomb had already directed three episodes of Universal Television's "The Six Million Dollar Man" before taking on the task of adapting "Captain America," but the director was frightened that the production ended his career before it barely even began. The film starred Reb Brown, also known in B-movie circles from "Yor, the Hunter from the Future,...

20 years ago, comic book movies were in an odd place. "X-Men" helped open the floodgates in 2000, particularly for Marvel, but it was the absolutely astonishing success of 2002's "Spider-Man" that represented the point of no return. Thus, other superheroes quickly made their way to the silver screen in the years that followed, with mixed results. One fascinating example is 2003's "Daredevil," which starred Ben Affleck as the Man Without Fear, and his future wife (and eventual ex-wife) Jennifer Garner as Elektra. The movie wasn't quite a flop, though not quite a hit, and didn't start a franchise for Matt Murdock like Marvel's mutants and Peter Parker now had. It was an up-the-middle, modest misfire.

Horror has always been one of the most controversial film genres. From the silent frights of "Nosferatu" to Wes Craven's 1970s shockers, horror films are the harbingers of moral panic and audience debate. Though American horror films have spurred plenty of moral outrage on our shores, it's not common for films to be banned outright in the United States. However, that doesn't mean that American horror films receive the same reception in other counties.
Countries have specific rules regarding censorship and movie ratings, leading some to ban certain American horror films for violating federal guidelines. Horror movies tend to be the most censored genre because of their depiction of violence (as well as sex and nudity), making some horror films unsuitable for viewing due to their explicit depictions of depravity. Censorship like this comes from ethical debates about whether or not pop culture influences the masses: Can violent movies make people more violent?...

The Jackass series debuted on MTV in 2000, quickly becoming one of the most popular television shows. It followed the antics of a group of friends as they engaged in outrageous stunts, pranks, and dangerous physical challenges. The show cast included Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Dave England, Preston Lacy, and Ryan Dunn.
Despite parental and political worries about the show’s potential impact on younger viewers, it quickly skyrocketed in popularity. After three seasons of wading through constant censorship notes from MTV, Knoxville and his pals decided to end their run; thus began, Jackass’ successful transition to the silver screen era.

Renowned American stunt performer Robbie Knievel has died at 60 after a life lived following the daredevil tracks of his late father Evel Knievel, his older brother Kelly confirmed.
Robbie had been grappling with advanced pancreatic cancer and had known about his declining health for the past six months.
Robbie’s critically acclaimed, three-decade-long career saw him perform over 350 seemingly superhuman jumps across various manmade structures, break 20 world records and soar past the Las Vegas Caesars Palace fountains in 1989, a feat that his father had failed 22 years earlier.

Despite constant warnings from Evel to never follow in his footsteps, and the various surgeries and traumatic injuries suffered by his father that he witnessed, Robbie chose not to listen.

Italian film legend Gina Lollobrigida, who achieved international stardom during the 1950s and was dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her movies, died in Rome on Monday, her agent said. She was 95.
The agent, Paola Comin, didn’t provide details. Lollobrigida had surgery in September to repair a thigh bone broken in a fall. She returned home and said she had quickly resumed walking.
A drawn portrait of the diva graced a 1954 cover of Time magazine, which likened her to a “goddess” in an article about Italian movie-making. More than a half-century later, Lollobrigida still turned heads with her brown, curly hair and statuesque figure, and preferred to be called an actress instead of the gender-neutral term actor.

Robbie Knievel, son of superstar ’70s motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel and an accomplished showman in his own right, died in hospice care after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to multiple reports. He was 60.
Like his father, Kneivel was adroit at leveraging his abilities on a motorcycle into a media spectacle. Over the course of his career, he had eight live television specials centered around his feats.
He soared over the fountains at Caesars Palace 22 years after his father famously crashed in a similar attempt. In a pay-per-view jump-off with British motorcycle stuntman Eddie Kidd, the duo jumped for distance in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. In 1998, Knievel attempted a record-breaking jump of 231 feet over 30 limousines at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. His father was there to support him. In 1999, Knievel executed a building-to-building jump between two 13-story towers at the Jockey Club in Las Vegas. He made a jump...

Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Wednesday season 1!Wednesday featured a clever Easter egg to Tim Burton’s cult classic movie Beetlejuice, but the lighting of the scene largely hid the reference. Netflix’s Wednesday is filled with Easter eggs and references to past adaptations of The Addams Family, horror movies like Carrie, and Tim Burton’s iconic filmography. While some of Wednesday’s Easter eggs are easier to spot, others became obscured in darker lighting, but Netflix’s official production images help clarify the presence of the series’ subtle movie references.
One of the best Easter eggs regarding Tim Burton’s 1988 horror-comedy Beetlejuice was featured in Wednesday season 1, episode 7. When Tyler and Wednesday are watching the “horror movie” Legally Blonde at Crackstone’s Crypt, the duo are eating popcorn from white-and-black striped bags, which mimic the design of Beetlejuice’s iconic striped suit. Since the lighting in Wednesday’s...

At the beginning of every Taskmaster series, the contestants know that they can only wear one outfit for all the task filming, for continuity purposes. So what would you pick? Stepping into the unknown, with all manner of physical and mental trials and tribulations ahead, the sensible bet would be… well, something sensible.
And yet, series after series, we see contestants don the most ridiculous getup to take them through their Taskmaster journeys, including a dressing gown, a safari suit, and an Evil Knievel helmet. And series 14 is no different: three of the contestants – Munya Chawawa, Fern Brady and Dara O’Briain – are sporting particularly impressive themed jumpsuits.
The question is: does a special outfit give contestants special powers? The edge over the competition, even? Let’s crunch the numbers.
Tim Key: 1980s-style tracksuit and headband over a shirt and tie (Series 1) Series rank: fourth
Okay, so we’re off to a bad start.
