Wally Koz(1940-2006)
- Producer
- Director
- Actor
Wally Koz was the director and producer of the infamous shot-on-video
psycho splatter item "555," which was one of a bunch of extremely
low-budget, yet enjoyably crude and gory shot-on-video underground
independent horror pictures made during the VHS boom of the mid to late
80s. "555" was made with the help of Wally's family and friends. It was
shot and takes place in Koz's hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Koz
decided to make "555" after watching countless other shoddy fright
flicks and figured he could make his own movie that would be better
than the other lesser fare being churned out by no-talent hacks. He had
no prior filmmaking experience before doing this feature. Wally's wife
Linda was an associate producer on the movie and also served as the
first assistant director. Outside of this sole foray into filmmaking,
Koz was a miner and gold prospector. Wally Koz died on January 1, 2006.
