- Ivan Koval-Samborsky was born on September 16, 1893 in Kharkov, Russian Empire [now Kharkiv, Ukraine]. He was an actor, known for The Adventures of the Three Reporters (1926), Men on Wings (1935) and The Girl with the Hat Box (1927). He died on January 10, 1962 in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia].
- He did not return to Germany after the war but continued his career in Rusia.
- In 1938 he was arrested by the Soviet authorities leading to his most recent film, the anti-Nazi The Swamp Soldiers, having to be reshot to minimize his role. He didn't appear in another film until 1957.
- After establishing himself in the Soviet film industry in the 1920s, he briefly went to work in Germany during the late 1920s before returning to Russia following the arrival of sound.
