He was a wrestler when he was a teenager.

His daughter Kira Li's mother is his band-mate Till Lindemann's ex-wife.

Former member of Orgasm Death Gimmicks formed in the West after he escaped over the green border between Austria an Hungary.

Parents divorced while he was a child, mother remarried and he continued to live in his difficult childhood home with his brother and two sisters.

Children: Khira Li Lindemann (b. February 28, 1991) and Merlin Besson (b. December 10, 1992).

He grew up in Weisen, Brandenburg, before relocating to Schwerin with his family.

Injured his left hand during the filming of the Rammstein: Engel (1997) music video. He initially received a puncture wound to the hand, caused by a stray nail, during a scene where the band members were supposed to jump up a wall. As they were being filmed that very moment, Richard opted to hold on to the nail and pull himself up on it as if nothing had happened, further aggravating the injury, which left a large permanent scar.

Sometime in 2001 he moved from Berlin to New York where he now resides.
