Fans of the comedy horror Bodies Bodies Bodies will be disappointed to learn that the movie will leave Netflix on Sept. 19, 2024. But the good news is that a long list of horror comedies is available on the streaming service to fill the void. And don't miss this year's Netflix & Chills lineup.
Bodies Bodies Bodies and other horror comedies are a unique subgenre of horror that mixes slasher elements with absurd comedic ones. Mixing comedy with horror is nothing new, as Edgar Allan Poe and other writers often combined the two in their works.
Bride of Chucky
Bride of Chucky is the fourth installment of the Child's Play franchise, written by creator Don Mancini and directed by Ronny Yu, also known for Freddy vs. Jason (2003). Brad Dourif returns as the voice of Chucky, with Jennifer Tilly portraying Tiffany Valentine, a role she would reprise in several other installments of the franchise.

Alfred Hitchcock almost blew it. For most of Psycho’s runtime, the master of suspense lived up to his name, turning Robert Bloch’s pulpy novel into a thrilling mystery with shocking twists. But then, after the revelation of Norman Bates emulating his mother, now a rotting corpse, the movie stops for a psychiatrist to lecture the audience on Freudian theory. Were it not for the chilling closing voiceover by Virginia Gregg as Norma Bates, and Anthony Perkins’ proto-Kubrickian stare at the camera, Psycho may have gone out with a whisper.
As ill-advised as the lecture scene surely is, it did help establish a key element of the slasher genre that followed. Slashers aren’t just about serial killers who pick off victims one by one. They also need to have deeply weird storylines, dealing not only with the killer’s personal hang ups, but also...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the New Amsterdam series finale “Right Place” and “How Can I Help.”] Dr. Max Goodwin’s (Ryan Eggold) mantra (“How can I help?”) will continue on for years to come at New Amsterdam, thanks to the new medical director we meet in the NBC drama’s series finale. A quick recap: Max leaves for a job in Geneva with the World Health Organization, and the hospital is in Dr. Elizabeth Wilder’s (Sandra Mae Frank) hands. Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) finds a new place and her sister joins her in an Na meeting. Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) and Martin (Mike Doyle) remarry. Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) and Gabrielle (Toya Turner) are going strong. And we meet the hospital’s new boss… years after Max has left, that is. Spoiler Alert! This story contains plots points from the series finale of New Amsterdam.
So long, good doctors of New Amsterdam: The drama about an old public hospital from creator/executive producer David Schulner, director/executive producer Peter Horton and Universal Television ended its five-season run Tuesday on NBC. Launched in 2018, the series was inspired by the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer.
Here, Schulner and Horton reflect on what they did and didn’t do in the final episode, and why they think its way too early to wrap up the drama that stars Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Tyler Labine, Debra Monk, Matthew Jeffers, and Sandra Mae Frank.
Deadline Did you have a checklist going into the finale with things that you wanted to include, like a chainsaw accident?

When New Amsterdam checks out after five seasons on January 17, expect the heartfelt hospital drama to go gentle into that good night. “The finale has [only] one medical story,” says showrunner David Schulner, because the majority of the two hours are driven by the characters’ personal stories: “Everyone is looking to heal — to repair the core trauma that started their journeys in the pilot episode.” That means surgeon Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) comes to terms with the idea of what it means to be a perfect family. ER doc Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) deals with the trauma of leaving her sister behind with their alcoholic mother. And psychiatrist Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) is owning the feeling that he’s not worthy of the marriage he’s in. Ralph Bavaro/NBC Medical director Max Goodwin, meanwhile, must define his future with his ex-fiancée, doc Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman). According to Schulner, the...

Ah, January. A fresh year, a chance to start again, with resolutions restored and hope renewed everywhere! Well, almost everywhere. If you go to the theater, you’ll likely find holdovers and awards favorites released in the final months of the previous year; the respectable stuff that does well around Oscar season. But the new offerings tend to be pretty dire. That’s when studios release dreck like the re-Heated Pacino/De Niro team-up Righteous Kill or dorm room staple The Boondock Saints. As the fine folks at Red Letter Media so eloquently point out, January is the worst time of the year for new movies.
But to the surprise of no one, studios aren’t always right about the quality of their movies, and sometimes a real classic ends up getting a January release. In fact, when you look over the past four decades,...

Divorce may not be the end for Iggy (Tyler Labine) and Martin (Mike Doyle) on New Amsterdam. The fall finale ended with Martin telling Iggy they should sign the divorce papers, just as it seemed they might be getting back together. And with the series finale airing January 17, hope may seem lost. But, as Labine tells TV Insider, that might not be the case. He teases what else is ahead when the final episodes begin on January 3. After Martin said they need to sign the papers, is Iggy feeling hopeless about their future? Tyler Labine: Let’s dissect the moment for a second. Iggy has been doing a lot of searching, right? From deadlifting to trying to adopt a cat to trying to become an art appreciator. And there’s a lot of growth there. There’s a lot of feelings of growth and discovery, and yet what Iggy chooses...

"Been a long time since I've been out like this." Vertical Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for a family comedy titled Sam & Kate, opening in select theaters this November. Described as a "life-affirming family dramedy" starring Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek - truly a family affair, art imitates life with the father / son casting of Dustin & Jake Hoffman and the mother / daughter casting of Sissy & Schuyler Fisk. When Sam (the younger Hoffman) returns to his small town to care for his ailing father, he soon finds himself falling for a local woman, Kate. Simultaneously, his father begins finding love with Kate's mother. But both couples must confront their past in order to make their new love work for the future. The cast also includes Henry Thomas, Tyler Labine, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, Dylan McNamara, and Elizabeth Becka. This looks sweet and fun, but also a film you'll forget as soon as it's over.
