- From January 2012-June 2015 she lived in Tokyo, Japan, where she taught English to Japanese students.
- On April 20, 2016, she was found dead at her home in Redondo Beach, CA. She had been taking medication for anxiety and insomnia. A statement was posted to her Twitter account confirming her death. The cause later was called prescription drug overdose. Her brain has been donated to science to study the effects of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
