After studying still photography for three years and then working in
that field as a commercial photographer, John Lesavage's interests then
turned towards cinematography. Before even finishing his film degree he
was hired by Gajdecki Visual Effects where he gained experience in
effects supervision, shooting green screens, pyro, and miniatures as
well as working as a motion control operator. In addition, while at
GVFX he also worked as an Effects Cinematographer for shows such as:
Bride of Chucky (1998), Darkman II, _Outer Limits (1994) (TV)_, Kung Fu: A Legend Reborn (1992) and Johnny Mnemonic (1995).
John Lesavage eventually left the effects company to work as a cinematographer full time where since then he has worked on a variety of projects including dramatics, thrillers and period pieces. One of which period pieces, The Boor, garnered him a nomination for Best Cinematography Award from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers.
