- Directed the pilot episode of I Love Lucy (1951). Ironically, he died on the same day that episode premiered on CBS fifty years before, October 15, 1951.
- Graduate of Yale University.
- Spent several years in England in the 1970s, working for BBC Television. Taught TV production classes at Cal State Northridge and Loyola Marymount University. From 1981, taught at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.
- Began in the film industry as an assistant director at CBS in New York, initially covering sporting events.
- Served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Subsequently worked as manager of the Massine Ballet Company.
