Exclusive: Here’s the striking first official image of Kate Winslet as Lee Miller in feature Lee.
The image, shot during filming on location in Croatia, shows Oscar winner Winslet as the pioneering American photographer who covered WWII in Europe for British Vogue.
Filming is ongoing on the directorial debut of respected cinematographer Ellen Kuras (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind).
The film is not being called a biopic by Winslet and the producers, but it does explore the most significant decade of Lee Miller’s life. As a middle-aged woman, she refused to be remembered as a model and male artists’ muse and defied expectations by travelling to Europe to report from the frontline. There, in part as a reaction to her own well-hidden trauma, she used her Rolleiflex camera to give a voice to the voiceless. What Lee captured on film in Dachau and throughout Europe was shocking and horrific.

A few days ago, we showed you a new trailer for Michel Gondry’s latest project, “Mood Indigo”, which delighted us no end. But now here’s something equally short and sweet for fans -- a guided tour of Gondry’s neighborhood VHS rental shop in Paris featuring the filmmaker himself. And it's no surprise that the director of "Be Kind Rewind" is a fan of old-school video rentals. In the clip, he points out films and artists that have served as inspiration for him, including Georges Méliès, Jim Jarmusch and Wim Wenders. Gondry has always been an affable personality, and that shines through here as well, as he gives a window into the personal side of his passion. The project is titled “A Cinephile’s Labyrinth” and comes from filmmaker Tiffany Limos at Nowness. Check it out for some serious rental store nostalgia. We would say go support your...

He picks out and discusses different filmmakers like Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch, and Méliès while explaing how they inspired his work. Such a unique video rental store, I hope this place stays open forever. Check this out! Here's the "A Cinephile's Labyrinth" video featuring director Michel Gondry in his own neighborhood: "Michel Gondry takes us on a tour of his local Parisian haunt in A Cinephile's Labyrinth, a new work directed by Larry Clark alumna, actress and filmmaker Tiffany Limos.

We've extolled the virtues of VHS before, and now Michel Gondry praises the value of the medium and reminisces about video stores in a new clip that appeared on Nowness. The whimsical French director, who is currently wrapping up his bizarre love story Mood Indigo, gave fans a glimpse inside his favorite Paris video store, La Butte Video Club. Michel Gondry: A Cinephile's Labyrinth is directed by Tiffany Limos of Ken Park fame and follows Gondry through the aisles as he waxes nostalgic about the production of The Science of Sleep. Apparently he watched all of Wim Wenders' early movies on VHS while creating the movie, which makes us love him more than we already did. The filmmaker's 2008 movie Be Kind Rewind tackled the subject of tapes in an obvious fashion, but...

The inaugural New York Hell’s Kitchen Film Festival kicks off next week on September 1, and in advance of ten days of films and fun, the festival has released their full lineup. The festival will open with Jay Duplass’ Kevin and will close with Craig Vivieros’ Lost in Italy (starring Glen Murphy and Ray Winstone). The festival’s centerpiece film is Josh Hyde’s Postales (an Official Selection at the Edinburgh and Shanghai International Film Festivals). In between those three framing films, the festival will show over 140 features and shorts, along with a number of interesting and unique panels. Duplass’ documentary Kevin is the director’s first foray into documentary features, and its opening night screening will be followed by a performance by Kevin Gant himself (a talented performer that both the Duplass brothers idolized as kids). Gant and Duplass will also participate in a Q&A moderated by Matt Singer. Other...

Latin L.A. story 'Sueno' lands at El Camino
El Camino Pictures, the film production entity launched in May by William Morris Independent and financier Bob Yari, has packaged its next project -- Sueno, an indie dramedy to star John Leguizamo, Ana Claudia Talancon and Elizabeth Pena, with Renee Chabria at the helm. Marc Forster, Eric Kopeloff and Robert Ortiz are producing. Lensing starts this week in Los Angeles with Leguizamo starring as a Mexican immigrant who is struggling to survive in L.A. and, in doing so, enters a local Latino singing competition. Meanwhile, he finds himself in a romantic triangle with two women -- a neighbor in her 40s (Pena) and a young veterinary student (Talancon). Tiffany Limos has also joined the cast, playing a hairdresser. " 'Sueno' is a story about the beauty and the frailty of the American dream and the importance of remembering the passion that lies at the heart of our desires," said Chabria.
