Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wasn’t born a wrestling star. He had to become one, and Tuesday’s Young Rock heartwarmingly showed fans how his road to stardom in the ring began.
It started with a call from Pat Patterson in 1996, who wanted Dwayne to fight in a dark match in Corpus Christi, Texas, per Vince McMahon’s request. Dwayne, of course, said yes to his first match, but he didn’t have any gear. So he had to borrow his uncle King Tonga’s trunks (which were too big) and his father Rocky’s boots (which were too small...

Jim Hellwig joined the WWE in 1987 with just two years of experience in the wrestling industry. This included brief stays in Jerry Jarrett’s Memphis territory, Bill Watts’ Mid South, and World Class Championship Wrestling. As has been well documented, he started out tag teaming with Sting after the two of them were discovered together as bodybuilders in California. The team underwent several different names, starting out at Powerteam USA, morphing into the Freedom Fighters, and becoming most famous as the Blade Runners.
It was during his stay in Texas (Wccw) that Hellwig first became the Dingo Warrior. The name came from his manager at the time, Gary Hart, who had worked in Australia earlier in his career. The famous Warrior face paint started during his stint in Wccw, also a nod to Australia and the war paint that the natives wear.

Former two time WWF Champion Bob Backlund is heavily expected to be the returning “main event” legend during tonight’s WWE Raw SuperShow. The likelihood is he will be squaring off or at the very least will be involved in an angle with Heath Slater, as has been the segments in previous weeks involving Vader, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Psycho Sid and Doink The Clown/Diamond Dallas Page.
F4WOnline.com reports that Backlund was visiting his mother at her Minnesota rest home this past weekend and was telling folks there that he was heading to fly right out to Denver, Colardo, which is the location for tonight’s WWE Raw SuperShow.
Backlund last appeared on WWE television back in 2007 at the Raw 15th anniversary show that December where he participated in a Battle Royal. That appearance came just a few short months after Backlund defeated Alex Shelley at Tna’s...

Last night’s WWE Raw SuperShow from Laredo, Texas. Michael Cole hypes that this is episode 997 of Raw and that tonight Teddy Long is the temporary General Manager and has set the main event as Cm Punk & John Cena vs Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho.
The Money in the Bank briefcase hangs above the ring as John Cena’s music hits.
He comes out to talk about last week. He thanked Chris Jericho and thanked Big Show. Jericho was right that Cena needed to prepare for Money in the Bank and that anything can happen in that match environment. Cena says Big Show gave him a crash course in education when he attacked him last week. Cena says he understands now what will happen at Money in the Bank. He says two things will happen – Big Show will lose and Cena will grab the contract, cash it in and become the next WWE Champion.
