- Bert "taught film editing at the America Film Institute and will be remembered for mentoring other filmmakers over the years," the Los Angeles Times explained.
- Bert "transitioned to inventing later in life. He received multiple patents and founded the all-terrain roller skate company, LandRoller, Inc. Bert's skates received several awards for top new sports product and are on display in the National Museum of Rollerskating," the Los Angeles Times reported.
