Pumpkins is new 80′s style horror from writer and director Maria Lee Metheringham, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Sunday 21st January. I got chance to ask Maria a few questions about making the film, her influences and adapting to changes during the shoot.
What can we expect from the film Pumpkins?
I would describe Pumpkins as an Ambient/Atmospheric horror. It combines elements of 80′s style classic horror films rolled into one feature. It’s not meant to be a gore film but it is meant to be visually creepy, eerie and suspenseful. Hopefully you will experience the old school settings along with an atmospheric journey.
What was your inspiration for writing the film Pumpkins?
It started off as a short to be included in another 80s style horror feature film we were writing but we liked the story so much we turned...

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Kelly began her TV career as an on-screen reporter covering Scottish news on TV-am in 1984, before moving to presenting on Good Morning Britain in 1990, GMTV with Lorraine between '94 and 2010, Daybreak and Lorraine.

Having admitted she picked up her terrible English accent in One Day from watching the soap, what other skills could it teach her?
Anne Hathaway has come in for a torrent of criticism over the British accent she employs in her new film One Day. And rightly so – it's a mangled, limping, geographically restless mess that variously makes her sound Welsh, South African, Russian and basically like the offspring of Dick Van Dyke from Mary Poppins and Don Cheadle from Ocean's Eleven. It is, not to overstate things, quite poor.
But at least we know who to blame for such a harrowing puddle of an accent: Emmerdale. Hathaway has revealed that she mainlined episodes of the soap in preparation for the role, describing it as 'great' and, confusingly, 'exotic'. But Emmerdale won't just help Hathaway with her accents – if she watches it for long enough, it'll inform almost every aspect of her working life.

If the rumours are true, Jennifer Aniston is about to take a bit part in a Us soap. Which British stars should do the same? Helen Mirren in Emmerdale? Hugh Grant in Coronation Street?
Movie stars are notoriously faddy. If one of them gets a little dog to carry around in their handbag, they all have to have one. If one starts subscribing to the tenets of a spurious quasi-religion, they all have to. And if one decides to play an elaborate meta-joke on the vagaries of fame by appearing in a daytime soap opera, others will, inevitably, decide that they want in, too.
This is all James Franco's fault. Since 2009 he's had an occasional role on General Hospital, playing a murderer called Franco. He explained his motivation for this to the Wall Street Journal in 2009, by talking about performance art and his ability to disrupt everyone's suspension of...

Emmerdale actor Dominic Brunt has revealed that he turned down an offer to appear on Dancing On Ice. Brunt, who has played village vet Paddy Kirk for almost 14 years, told ITN that he had to decline the opportunity as he was too busy. Several of the ITV soap's former stars have appeared in the skating contest, including Emily Symons, Linda Lusardi, Roxanne Pallett and the winner of the this year's series Hayley Tamaddon. "Somebody asked me if I wanted to do Dancing On Ice a while ago and I politely turned it down," he admitted. "I don't think I was available anyway because I was doing Emmerdale (more)...

Linda Lusardi is considering returning to 'Emmerdale'. The 51-year-old actress - who portrayed Carrie Baine in the ITV1 soap - adored her time on the show and would be interested in reprising her role again one day. She said: ''I loved 'Emmerdale'. I did it for over a year, and it was a really good grounding for an actress because you are getting new scripts every day. ''I had to leave because of the children, we live too far away and it was not fair on them. 'Emmerdale' has left the door open, who knows I could go back.'' Linda has two children, Jack and ..

Former Emmerdale star Linda Lusardi has revealed that she would consider returning to the soap in the future. The ex-Page 3 model played Carrie Nicholls on the Yorkshire-based drama for a year, but quit the part in late 2007 because she wanted to spend more time with her family. However, in a new interview with the North Wales Chronicle, Lusardi hinted that she would be willing to return to the role when her children Lucy, 13, and Jack, 10, are older. Lusardi commented: "I loved Emmerdale. I did it for over a year, and it was a really good grounding for an actress because you are (more)...

Linda Lusardi called 999 after getting caught in a traffic jam on the way to a pantomime performance. The actress found herself in a long queue of vehicles on the M25 on Saturday when she was supposed to be appearing as the Wicked Queen at the Swan Theatre in High Wycombe. She called the emergency services and asked whether she could use the hard shoulder to overtake the waiting cars. A Hertfordshire Police representative commented: "She called us at 1.30pm on Saturday asking for permission to use the hard shoulder. Obviously, we (more)...
