South African-born Tamsin Mac Carthy is a producer, director, actress & musical artist and has worked opposite acclaimed stars such Peter Fonda and worked with name talent such as Robert Pattinson, Max von Sydow, Vinnie Jones and Luke Perry. Her adaptation of bestselling author Paulo Coelho's "The Witch of Portobello" as producer/director/writer and actress in the lead role of "Athena" won over 6000 submissions and premiered at the Rome Film Festival. The film makers, along with Paulo, won the "Cinema of Peace" Award for this worldwide initiative in film making.
As a director, she was nominated as "Best New Director" by MNET and her films have been selected for Cannes, Toronto and Berlin Film Festivals. She has also directed multiple music videos, commercials and documentaries.
She is also an accomplished songwriter and vocalist with numerous international releases under the artist name CIRCE ELECTRO in the world of electronic dance music. She was also nominated for "Best Alternative Album" in South Africa for her band Prankster's album "Lay Me Down". Her self-produced "folktronica" solo album "Verdict to Roam" under the name Tamsin M is available internationally.
Tamsin is an accomplished martial artist, she received two silver medals at the "International Traditional Wushu Festival" in China representing her home country of South Africa. She has specialized in both open palm and weapons training, as well as San Shou. She has served as an internationally qualified Wushu Federation judge in San Shou in her past.
Tamsin resides in Los Angeles.
