Filmmaker Michael Winnick made his feature directorial debut with the psychological sci-fi thriller Deuces back in 2001, and has since followed that up with the horror thriller Shadow Puppets, the crime thriller Guns, Girls and Gambling, the family drama The Better Half, the Steven Seagal vehicle Code of Honor, the horror film Malicious, the horror mystery Disquiet, and the action film Dark Asset. Now, Deadline reports that Winnick has wrapped production on his latest directorial effort, a sci-fi action film called Kill Him ‘Til He’s Dead. He managed to assemble a cool cast for this one as well, with Byron Mann (Wu Assassins), Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us), Ashley Greene (Twilight), Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), and Fivel Stewart (The Recruit) taking the lead roles.

A new Street Fighter movie is due to hit theaters in 2026, and while the original was universally regarded as a train wreck, the remake needs to bring back one element that defined 1994's Street Fighter. Written and directed by one of the 1980s and 1990s' go-to action filmmakers, Steven E. de Souza, Street Fighter adapted the content of Capcom's video game into a movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Van-Damme portrayed one of the game's fighters, Colonel Guile, and his team of recruited fighters as they attempt to bring down the evil General M. Bison.
The movie featured many of the video game's most famous and popular characters, including Chun-Li (Ming-Na Wen), Ryu (Byron Mann), and Zangief (Andrew Bryniarski) separated into two camps, leading to plenty of fighting action. While video game movies historically haven't been successful either critically or at the box office, Street Fighter is regarded as a...

Takeshi Kovacs' ouroboros tattoo symbolizes everlasting life on Earth in the futuristic world of Altered Carbon. Changing bodies but keeping the same tattoo, Takeshi's ouroboros represents the eternal nature of humans in the series. The ancient symbol has been found in various cultures and symbolizes the repeating nature of time and life's everlasting cycle.
In Altered Carbon, Takeshi Kovacs sports a forearm tattoo that has a deeper significance to the show's themes than it may appear at first glance. Based on the novel by Richard K. Morgan, the 2018 Netflix series Altered Carbon is set in the year 2384 where a person's consciousness can be transferred between bodies. The series primarily focuses on Takeshi Kovacs, a soldier turned investigator who is released from prison to solve a mysterious murder case. Director Michael Winnick tries his hand at recreating the ‘super-soldier’ genre with his newest movie, Dark Asset, starring Byron Mann, Helena Mattson, and Robert Patrick, among others. It follows a nameless individual who becomes insanely strong after he’s made a superior being thanks to a chip in his brain and then turns against his creators. The plot isn’t new, and we’ve seen multiple versions with the same script, so does Winnick bring anything exciting to this movie? Here’s a detailed recap of Dark Asset, along with an honest review at the end.
Spoilers Ahead
Who’s John Doe?
Dark Asset opens with a man sitting in a glass chamber as some important-looking people observe the experiment happening from outside. Dr. Cain (Robert Patrick) explains the experiment in detail, saying the test subject is John Doe (Mann), and a chip has been inserted in his brain, making...

I do love a director with a steady hand! So many out there would be worried about a slow-burn thriller/espionage film not keeping people’s attention (I mean to be fair everyone seems to have a two-second attention span these days) so they might throw in some unneeded action or other random nuttiness. Micheal Winnick though realises that he has a strong cast that can deliver in every area and one hell of a sharp vibrant and sexy aesthetic.

This film can’t decide if it’s an action thriller or a steamy character study, as a soldier with an enhanced-abilities chip chats up a woman in a bar
John Wick has probably created unrealistic expectations for the adrenaline levels to be encountered in luxury hospitality venues, and this low-budget super-soldier thriller, largely narrated over cocktails in a swanky hotel lobby, follows firmly in its gold-card wake. But the generic and strangely pointless tech conspiracy on offer here supplies as memorable an experience as a branch of the average Hilton. And despite its attempts to juice up its cyborg setup with some old-fashioned body heat, Dark Asset ends up more smarmy than sexy.

When you go to a movie called “The Modelizer,” you assume certain things about your protagonist: that he’ll be a smooth-talking, pricelessly well-dressed cad, one who values women too much for certain assets (their looks) and not enough for others (everything else), and that the film will be engineered to give him a comeuppance. All that is true of “The Modelizer.”
What you don’t expect is that the movie, in this case, is going to take all that sexist-swinger-as-master-of-the-universe stuff and put it on one-percent-of-the-one-percent steroids. “The Modelizer” is set in Hong Kong, which the movie keeps reminding us is the most expensive city in the world. Opening in theaters and on VOD July 14, Vertical’s “The Modelizer” offers a trailer that sells a romantic comedy that’s part of a new wave of “Hong Kong Films,” which are original features where the subject matter is distinctly Hong Kong but is in English.
Directed by Keoni Waxman and produced, written by and starring Byron Mann (who has seemingly aged about ten minutes since playing Ryu in the 1994 “Street Fighter” movie), the picture is a conventional mix of rom-com tropes (a well-off womanizer must change his ways once he finds someone – played by Rayssa Bratillieri — worth settling down for) and wealth porn, with the obvious hook being that it’s from a locale that isn’t often presented in such a fashion in mainstream Hollywood flicks.
The locale is usually for stranger-in-a-strange-land actioners like Dwayne Johnson’s “Skyscraper” (who co-starred Mann) and Rowann Atkinson’s “Johnny English Reborn...

When putting together the new Netflix series “The Recruit,” creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley said it was “important” for him to show a diverse cast as well as fill his writers room with talent from all backgrounds.
“If I don’t do that then that’s on me,” Hawley told TheWrap during a recent interview.
“The Recruit” marks Hawley’s Netflix debut, but he’s no stranger to television — the twin brother of “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley is also the creator and showrunner of the hit ABC series “The Rookie” and worked as a producer and writer on “Castle.”

The internet's love affair with Noah Centineo began somewhere between "The Fosters" and "To All The Boys I've Loved Before," both of which followed lovestruck teenage boys navigating classic high school drama. But ever since that Netflix trilogy came to a close, Centineo has been changing up his image to leave those schoolboy days behind. Shaving his head? Check. Co-starring in a superhero movie? Check. Taking the lead as a hero? Almost check. Bagging a crime thriller instead? That works! So I guess it's official — between his "Black Adam" stint as the young metahuman Atom Smasher and his upcoming role in Netflix's "The Recruit," Centineo has entered his action star era.
Inevitably, it's always hard to accept the next chapter of an actor's career, but that feels especially true for the performers whose signature role is a doe-eyed teenage boy. Personally, Centineo still falls in the same bucket as Tom Holland...

"Don't get cute. Do your business, and get out." Good luck, young one! Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a darkly comedic suspense series titled The Recruit, created by Alexi Hawley, of the "State of Affairs", "Castle", and "The Rookie" series previously. This one is about a young lawyer, not your typical CIA series, considering it's about someone trying to deal with the CIA's (internal) dirty laundry. A fledgling lawyer at the CIA, played by Noah Centineo (from To All the Boys I've Loved Before & Charlie's Angels), becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime. The series' cast also includes Laura Haddock, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Vondie Curtis Hall, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Kristian Bruun, Byron Mann, Angel Parker, & Kaylah Zander. This article contains Fistful of Vengeance spoilers.
“Like the Avengers…but Asian.”

Fistful of Vengeance is the feature film sequel to Netflix’s 2019 10-episode martial arts driven series Wu Assassins.
