- Born as André Gaston Maillol, Maranne became a naturalised subject/citizen of the United Kingdom in 1967, when he was issued a Certificate of Naturalisation.
- Though very short-sighted, he greatly disliked wearing glasses when acting.
- Played M. Bouc on the 1993-1994 BBC radio adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. This was Maranne's final role before retirement.
- He originally wanted to be a Chemist. However, after being found experimenting with dangerous chemicals aged 18, this ended his chances of a career in this field.
