Relationships are the heart of Once Upon a Time.

Not just true love or the deep bonds between parents and their children.

Friendship has played a major role on the show since the beginning when Snow and Charming's friends stepped up to help them keep their baby safe from the Evil Queen.

We've watched core friendships grow and change over the past six seasons. But some bonds were just scratching the surface of potential the last time we checked in with them.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 7 may have focused on the Evil Queen creating a new curse for Snow White and Prince Charming, but it was one storytime scene between Captain Swan that stole the show.

Elsewhere in the hour, Belle was brutally honest with Rumple about her feelings for him, and Zelena flipped sides – again.

It is good to see Snow White and her Prince on an adventure again.

With some really fantastic standout moments, Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 7 is better than it has been in a while, giving us fewer moments that induce eye-rolls and more that just hit us right in the feels.

True love grows on trees, there might be poison in the water, and someone's getting sleepy!

The Evil Queen is once again at the center of the episode, leading the way in quips and questionable fashion sense. She's determined to force Snow White and David to hand over their hearts within 12 hours or else she plans to force the residents of Storybrooke to drink water that'll kill them from the Underworld.

Riff raff, street rat – I don't buy that.

On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 5, the story of another savior, Aladdin, came to life.

Elsewhere in the hour, the Evil Queen took her big sister for a day at the spa, secrets were exposed, and a little pair of scissors may be the answer to Emma's dilemma.

Just like Emma, we've all seen the movie. We know who Aladdin is and how his story plays out – or do we?

I'll admit that I was cautiously optimistic about the Aladdin arc on Once Upon a Time.

Come back, Mr. Hyde!

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 4 gave us an ending to the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story, with both characters making an exit.

It was an episode filled with additional twists, as we learned that the only definite way to kill the Evil Queen is if Regina dies, leaving us wondering if this will play into Emma's vision from the Oracle. Could Regina be the hooded figure who kills the Savior?

Elsewhere, Mary Margaret went back to teaching, getting a little help from her new friend, Princess Jasmine. David shared some fatherly hesitation about Emma and Killian moving in together, and Belle found herself trapped on the Jolly Roger because of a spell, courtesy of Gold.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 4 was full of unexpected turns and revelations, all leading up to the final one of the hour: Princess Jasmine is in Storybrooke in search of Aladdin.

It seems like a shame to have the Jekyll and Hyde story end so abruptly.

Just as Sam Witwer's Hyde was stealing the show as the most charismatic and multi-dimensional villain Once Upon a Time has seen in years, his fate was revealed to be tied to Jekyll's.

This week on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, a “final twist” put Belle’s life in peril, all leading to a harsh truth for Regina.

Having learned that Hyde was sprung from his cell by the Evil Queen, Rumple showed up at the docks to cast a protection spell on the Jolly Roger — one that confined Belle to the ship as well (and screamed of being a bad idea). Hyde and the Evil Queen meanwhile made a beeline for Jekyll’s makeshift lab, to steal the serum the doc has been working on and then trash the place. When...

Welcome to Storybrooke, Princess Jasmine!

It looks like we're going to meet our new favorite princess on Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 4, or at least we'll meet her Storybrooke alter-ego!

How do we know? Mary Margaret's new friend at school is played by Karen David, the same actress who'll be flying on magic carpets with Aladdin in the coming weeks!

Elsewhere in the episode, we'll see a flashback for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, one that unsurprisingly involves Rumplestitlskin, as the Evil Queen and Mr. Hyde continue their quest to steal the serum that threatens to destroy them forever.

On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 3 Ella/Ashley returned for another round of story, this time with a great Untold twist that seems to have hit a high note with viewers.

What did you think of Cinderella's return to Once Upon a Time? Were you pleased by the twist that her story took?

Teresa: I was so pleased Cinderella returned. To me, characters like her are the "untold stories" we need to see. The twist with her step-sister, lol, was an awful lot like Anastasia and Will in Once Upon A Time In Wonderland, and it was well done....in both series.

Steve: It was great to see her return to Ouat.

It's nice to have Snow White back at the helm of this story, and it's nice to see people in Storybrooke smiling for a change.

That can't be a coincidence. 

While frustrations have been high surrounding the recycling and repeating storylines we've become accustomed to, Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 3 became self-aware.

Just when you thought Once Upon a Time had spun Cinderella’s tale to completion, Sunday’s episode reopened her proverbial storybook for another dramatic reveal — and a delightfully campy showdown.

It turns out Ella — or Ashley, pick your poison — has been carrying around a pumpkin-load of guilt over getting her happily ever after. She blames herself for spoiling the happiness of her stepsister Clorinda, who was apparently a closeted nice girl with a secret boyfriend (Prince Thomas’ footman!) whom she planned to marry behind Lady Tremaine’s back.

We can all agree that the Evil Queen's return to Storybrooke was fascinating.

Regina is done with apples, Rumplestiltskin isn’t redeeming himself, & Hyde is still evil on the Once Upon a Time season 6 premiere...

This review contains spoilers.

6.1 The Savior

After five seasons of spells, trickery, torment, irredeemable curses, enchanted quills, people who turn into puppets, human hearts in boxes and a descent into Hades, Season 6 of Once Upon A Time looks to be taking an even darker turn in the shadows of that enchanted forest.

Maybe my seven-year-old self is still clinging to the Disney version in which Beast doesn’t make shady deals and morphs into a handsome prince at the end, but I was never a fan of Rumbelle. Their first dance made me cringe. The flashback of their first dance made me cringe. Rumplestiltskin has been nothing but a beast to Belle—which is exactly why I was so thrilled about Morpheus and his magical hourglass.

There's nothing more dangerous than an untold story.

Luckily for Once Upon a Time, there is a never-ending supply of stories, and if this episode is any indication of what's to come this season, then let's face it; we're in no danger at all. 

After what felt like an extraordinarily long summer, Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 1 welcomed us back into Storybrooke, giving each of its major players something big to work with. 

Yes, it's true that a blimp has landed, filled with mysterious residents that we don't know much about...yet. All of that seems like background noise when compared with the everyday struggles that the heroes of Storybrooke face.

Rumbelle's son is already delivering warnings from the womb, Regina can't seem to move forward, Henry's getting a little philosophical, Zelena is face to face with the Evil Queen, and it looks like Emma is headed for death.

The wait is almost over!

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 1, "The Savior," airs on Sunday, September 25 at 8/7c. 

When we last saw our Storybrooke heroes, they had escaped the Underworld and facing a new problem: Henry had erased magic. Not only that, Hook, David, and Mary Margaret were being held captive by Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the Land of Untold Stories, and while Dr. Jekyll kindly wanted to help them, Mr. Hyde became a problem.

While the heroes easily brought the magic back and escaped from the Land of Untold Stories, there was one small problem: Mr. Hyde struck a deal with Mr. Gold that left him in charge of Storybrooke while Gold focuses on waking up his beloved Belle from her long sleep.

Oh, and the Evil Queen is back. The episode description for "The Savior" reads as follows:

"As our heroes set out to stop Hyde,...

This week on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, a demigod helped the heroes with a triple threat, leading Hades to hand Hook a most grave assignment.

Guys, this was a very good episode. From the flashbacks, which like last week connected some meaningful dots, to the current-day tale, it had — as had been promised — a Seasons 1/2 feel.

We finally lay eyes on a physical Hook, and he is battered and bruised — but not bested. Rather, he aims to make a run for it from his subterranean prison, but instead urges a fellow captive,...

It's time for more reunions in the Underworld in this episode of Once Upon a Time, "Labor of Love." The quest to find Hook continues, but that's not going to be easy, not with Hades in charge and his pet (a three-headed hellhound).

Also, Mary Margaret reunites with a childhood friend, Hercules, and in doing so, she remembers what she was like in the Enchanted Forest when she was Snow White.

"Labor of Love" -- In the Underworld, an escapee from Hades' prison informs the heroes that Hook is being held captive. But before the heroes can rescue Hook, they must face a terrifying beast that guards the prison. Mary Margaret searches for an old childhood friend who knows how to defeat the monster. However, once reunited, she discovers that her friend is no longer the hero he once was. Meanwhile, in an Enchanted Forest flashback, a young Snow White struggles to preserve peace in her kingdom and must learn how to be a true hero if she wants to one day become queen.

Captain Hook may be down… like, way, way, wayyyyyy down… but he is not out, as seen in this sneak peek from the next episode of ABC’s Once Upon a Time.

Recently, ABC released these 2,new sneak peek/spoiler clips (below) for their upcoming "Once Upon A Time" episode 5 of season 5, and they give us new looks at some very interesting stuff as Violet's intense desire to find her horse, prompts Henry to ask for Dark One Emma's help, and more! "Dreamcatcher" -- In Camelot, as Mary Margaret and David attempt to retrieve the Dark One dagger, Emma uses a dreamcatcher to look into the past to see how Merlin was transformed into a tree. Together, Emma and Regina figure out the critical ingredient they must acquire to free Merlin, but it's a race against Arthur, who does not want Merlin released. Meanwhile, with encouragement from his moms, Henry musters up the courage to ask Violet on a date. Back in Storybrooke, the heroes break into Emma's house hoping to locate Gold, but what they find will give them a glimpse of Emma's end game. Far from prying eyes, Merida sets about the mission Emma has tasked her with and begins molding Gold into the hero they need to draw Excalibur.

Is Once Upon A Time's Brave storyline in danger of overshadowing the pre-existing storylines? Broken Kingdom suggests so...

5.4 Broken Kingdom

If I were to sum up this episode with one word, it would be ‘meh’. The more interesting characters like Emma and Hook are sidelined, or completely written out (we only got one eye roll from Regina – one!), in favour of detailing the backstory of Camelot with Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot.

This was obviously a needed episode, especially after watching Arthur convince his squire to commit suicide for Camelot, but it didn’t quite land. It was perhaps too rushed, trying to show and develop characters in too small a time frame. What suffers most is the ‘great’ love affair between Lancelot and Guinevere. "The Broken Kingdom" is a Camelot-heavy Once Upon a Time episode, offering a look at what happened after Arthur pulled the broken Excalibur from the stone and what happened during that missing time after Lancelot warned Mary Margaret. In fact, it's not until the final minutes of the hour that we even get a glimpse of what's happening back in Storybrooke, and honestly, I miss that little town for most of the episode. Let's not focus so much on Camelot again, deal?

5.3 Siege Perilous

Heroes are reborn in this week’s Once Upon A Time, Siege Perilous.

For better or for worse, this episode revolves around David. The Charmings have been shunted to the background for a long time now, without even the obligatory ‘I will always find you’ storyline that used to be a part of every season. They are generally relegated to looking worried and offering mediocre advice to Emma, so it’s a nice change to make David a more active player. However, David is probably one of the most boring characters on the show, as he is unfailingly good, which is never interesting to watch.

"Siege Perilous" -- In Camelot, the heroes feverishly work to free Merlin. Determined to help Emma, David embarks on a quest to retrieve a magical relic that Regina could use to communicate with the imprisoned sorcerer, but when David leaves, Arthur insists on joining him because the dangers ahead are greater than he can imagine. Meanwhile, Mary Margaret discovers the fate of her old friend Lancelot. Back in Storybrooke, Arthur seeks David's help to catch a thief who threatens the safety of the citizens of Camelot. Across town, Emma reaches out to a conflicted Hook as she sets about her plan to draw Excalibur from the stone.

This Sunday on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, Regina’s “Savior” secret had deadly consequences in Camelot, while in Storybrooke Hook put his honey where his mouth is, in hopes of saving Emma.
