- On November 26, 2012, he received an honorary degree (Doctor of Letters) from the University of Westminister at the presentation ceremony of the School of Architecture and Built Environment.
- He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2019 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to music. The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace on May 2, 2009, and was carried out by HRH Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge.
