Ward McAllister(1891-1981)

Ward McAllister started as a stage actor in Los Angeles, California. He
was an extra on the stage who was just trying to earn money. He toured
with the Gilmore Brown Players, traveling around the world in an
ensemble cast which included lifelong friend, Thurston Hall, of the
"Topper" TV series. He was in "The Dancers" in London, England, which
helped bring Tallulah Bankhead to fame. He shared a dressing room with
Nigel Bruce, of the Sherlock Holmes films (Dr. Watson).
He was involved in the early days of filmmaking in Hollywood before there was a "Hollywood". He worked in some silent films that were pioneering works, such as, the Flying A films. He was in the first five-reeler, A Diamond in the Sky. Other films include "Death of a Nation", a sequel to "Birth of a Nation".
