Max announced today the premiere of its enchanting new animated series Mermicorno: Starfall, set to launch on January 16, 2025, with all 13 episodes of its first season available for streaming. This captivating children’s show is a collaboration between renowned animation studio Atomic Cartoons (a Thunderbird Entertainment Company), and iconic global lifestyle brand, tokidoki.

Mermicorno: Starfall invites audiences into a dazzling underwater world where a team of Mermicornos (enchanting mermaid-unicorns) embark on exciting, hilarious and stylish adventures to save the ocean from the evil Ika Inkblot. Best-selling genre author Clive Barker has brought us the horrors of Rawhead Rex, Hellraiser, Nightbreed, Candyman, Lord of Illusions, The Midnight Meat Train, Dread, and Books of Blood, among other things – and now he’s bringing us the animated comedy Night of the Zoopocalypse. Barker provided the concept for Night of the Zoopocalypse, and the idea was then fleshed out into a screenplay by Steven Hoban and James Kee. Mattel and Warner Bros. Discovery announced today that Barney, Mattel’s iconic purple dinosaur, will return to television screens for the first time in 14 years. Barney’s World, a new animated series featuring original music and updated takes on Barney classics, will premiere on Monday, October 14, on Max followed by a linear premiere on Cartoon Network starting on Friday, October 18.

The show also launches on Cartoonito in Emea and Apac, and Discovery Kids in Latam. Select episodes of Barney’s World will be available on YouTube, where the first episode will debut early on October 11 in specific countries.

The new Barney’s World is set in a playground, where Barney is joined by dinos Billy and Baby Bop and their three kid best friends David, Mel, and Vivie. Through action-packed, music-filled adventures together, Barney helps the kids and audiences explore big preschool emotions, showing them how to love themselves, others, and their communities.

Barney is now getting rebooted into an animated series. Barney is the eponymous purple dinosaur who debuted in 1988 with Barney & the Backyard Gang, and became best recognized from the television series Barney & Friends. The series began in 1992 and wrapped in 2010, spanning over 200 episodes. Different actors have worn the Barney suit and provided a voice to the amicable prehistoric character, including Bob West and Dean Wendt as the voice of Barney. West played the role from 1992-2000, with Wendt picking up his work in 2001 and than appearing up until the ending of Barney & Friends.

As per Variety, Barney is now being revived into a new series. The series will take the form of a new animated series premiering on Max, titled Barney's World.
