The Peabody Awards are heading back to Los Angeles, following last year’s long-awaited move to the City of Angels. After several attempts — delayed by the Covid pandemic, and then by the Hollywood strikes — the Peabodys finally made their move to the west coast in 2024, and this year the event will celebrate its 85th anniversary at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on June 1.
“Our 2024 debut in L.A. was a major success, and we look forward to continuing to introduce the wider Hollywood creative community to what makes Peabody the premier award for media that matters,” said Jeffrey Jones, executive director of Peabody. “In such polarized times, the stories that Peabody honors are unifying in their clear call to address injustices and see humanity in all its beauty and messiness. Honoring such programs remains our goal.”

William Arkin has created articles and reports for NBC News and The Los Angeles Times, among other media venues. But he may be remembered for something he wrote for himself.
In a mammoth 2000-word-plus farewell letter, Arkin, a veteran NBC News staffer and analyst who has also written books and for newspapers, warned that “In our day-to-day whirlwind and hostage status as prisoners of Donald Trump, I think – like everyone else does – that we miss so much.”
He praised NBC News for the opportunities it has given him, noting that “my time at NBC has been gratifying. Working with Cynthia McFadden has been the experience of a lifetime. I’ve learned a ton about television from her and Kevin Monahan, the secret insider tricks of the trade and the very big picture of what makes for original stories (and how powerful they can be). The young reporters at NBC are also universally excellent.

Days after high-profile actors, Democrats, and media companies were targets of alarming bomb threats, NBC News correspondent Cynthia McFadden expressed disappointment over President Donald Trump’s latest attacks on the media.
“The events of yesterday are unspeakable. I was heartened by the president’s tweet yesterday saying that these were unacceptable events. She continued, “I don’t know if we are going to change the president, but I do hope that all of us will think long and hard about why the press has always played such a pivotal...

The three different women who have gone on the record to accuse Dustin Hoffman of sexual assault gave their first television interview to “NBC Nightly News.” Anna Graham Hunter, Cori Thomas and Kathryn Rossetter spoke candidly to Cynthia McFadden about the alleged incidents, some occurring when they were just teenagers. “It eroded my self-confidence and my dignity,” said Rossetter, who starred alongside Hoffman in a 1983 Broadway production of “Death of a Salesman.” “It was humiliating and demeaning… He robbed me of the joy of that experience.”
Rossetter said Hoffman would fondle her every night backstage before one of her biggest scenes, the actress recently told The Hollywood Reporter. One night, she said, he digitally penetrated her without her consent.
