The Season 17 finale of “America’s Got Talent” aired Wednesday night on NBC, and viewers are mostly happy with the outcome. To recap, Lebanese dance group Mayyas (Sofia Vergara‘s Golden Buzzer) won the 1 million prize, while pole dancer/animator Kristy Sellars came in second place and country singer Drake Milligan finished third. But in our overnight poll that asked fans to vote on who Really deserved to win, their results were essentially tied between two acts: Drake nabbed 29 and Mayyas scored 28. No other contestant received double digits. Here are the complete “AGT” poll results:
29 — Drake Milligan
28 — Mayyas
9 — Chapel Hart
9 — Kristy Sellars
8 — Sara James

It’s the moment many “America’s Got Talent” acts have been waiting for: the roast of Simon Cowell.
On Wednesday night’s finale, Mike E. Winfield hosted the special performance, bringing out Don McMillan, Mr. Pants, Lace Larrabee and the roast master himself, Jeff Ross, to all take a swipe at Cowell.
McMillan was criticized by Cowell during his audition for using a PowerPoint presentation. So, in an act of defiance, McMillan once more did a PowerPoint presentation — much to Cowell’s dismay — of the media mogul’s likes and dislikes.
Number 1 on the dislikes was, unsurprisingly, PowerPoints; others included shaving, clowns and parmesan cheese.
He also poked fun at Cowell’s recent bike accidents, adding: “Too soon?”

Last week, Gold Derby conducted a poll asking “America’s Got Talent” viewers to let us know what they thought of the new format change, in which more contestants than ever are being eliminated each week. The fans did not hold back. A whopping 60 voted in our poll results that they disliked the new rule because “we are losing way too many talented acts.” To compare, 35 approved of the change because “it forces each act to bring their A-game.” The remaining 5 were non-committal and had to “think about it more.”
In the past, “America’s Got Talent” would produce three separate live show rounds: Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Grand Finale. Now, there are only two rounds: Qualifiers and Grand Finale. Because the middle round has been removed, that means there are massive cuts in each of the five Qualifiers. Of the 11 acts who perform each week, only two go on to the finale,...

Last week, viewers of “America’s Got Talent” were given their first voting task of this 17th season: to choose who would become the 55th and final live show act. Judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara narrowed down the decision to four contestants: singer Ben Waites, singer Debbii Dawson, sword swallower Auzzy Blood and comedian Jordan Conley. During the August 9 live show, host Terry Crews officially revealed the results, and it was good news for Jordan.
During the comedian’s original audition (watch above), he was easily the best stand-up comedian shown in that episode. His confidence and infectious personality wowed the judges, with all four voting to advance him to the next round. In fact, Simon couldn’t stop laughing and Howie compared him to Kevin Hart.

Who’s performing tonight on “America’s Got Talent“? The Season 17 live shows kick off August 9 on NBC with the Qualifiers 1 group. This lineup notably includes Terry Crews‘ Golden Buzzer act, a young saxophonist named Avery Dixon who persevered despite being bullied throughout his life. Remember, this year the live shows have gotten a major facelift. Gone are the days of Quarter-Finals followed by Semi-Finals. Instead, there will only be five Qualifiers rounds, with two acts advancing from each group — one chosen by America, one chosen by the judges.
Get ready to belly-laugh because there are no less than three comedians in the first round: Don McMillan (who utilizes power-point slides), Ben Lapidus (who sings comedic songs) and Lace Larrabee (a more traditional stand-up). They’ll be joined by, among others, the only animal act remaining in Season 17: Amazing Veranica and Her Incredible Friends.
