I first discovered After Midnight (1989) during my freshman year of college. There at I Luv Video was this VHS tape that gave me nostalgia for a movie I actually hadn’t seen yet. The woman on the cover, a character played by Jillian McWhirter, was quite literally trapped in time, and the tagline beneath her fiery fate read: “Anything Can Happen in the Dark.” As it turned out, my little case of memory distortion was rather fitting; this movie starts off with someone having a vague recollection, albeit of a terrible event.
Growing up I had passed by After Midnight many times at my local video shop, but it wasn’t until some years later that I gave it a watch. And after witnessing the nightmarish fate of those college students enrolled in The Psychology of Fear, I was hooked. Jim and Ken Wheat’s movie — their horror debut as...

There’s something inherently unsettling about teeth, and the addition of someone prodding at them with sharp instruments is especially invasive. On the other side of that coin, the negative association with dentistry can impact the professionals. Cult filmmaker Brian Yuzna tapped into these fundamental fears with his 1996 direct-to-video film, The Dentist, and its 1998 sequel, The Dentist 2.
In fact, Yuzna knew he could sell the movie based on the title alone, so he solicited writers to pitch him on the concept. It was his old pals Stuart Gordon and Dennis Paoli — for whom Yuzna had produced Re-Animator and From Beyond — that cracked the script. Charles Finch (who went on to executive produce David Cronenberg’s Spider) was later brought in to punch it up.
Continuing the underlying social commentary Yuzna explored with Society, the film centers on hot-headed dentist Alan Feinstone. After catching his wife (Linda Hoffman) going down...

In a special billed as a tell-all, resident Bachelor Chris Soules was perhaps not as candid as we might have liked.
However, the special did give us more Kelsey, who tried to explain herself with the kind of careful, over-enunciated manner we've come to know and fear.
Host Chris Harrison also sat down with Andi Dorfman, still reeling from her split from Josh Murray.
Kelsey Tells NothingKelsey was not only as insistent about her innocence as you might expect, she was actually surprised when Harrison told her that she was a controversial figure. "Am I really that controversial?" asked Kelsey,...

As Skyline prepares to invade cinemas, we look back at more than 30 years of the best and worst alien abduction movies...
Do aliens really hover in our skies, waiting to kidnap us for their own unfathomable ends? Ever since the case of Us couple Betty and Barney Hill became widely publicised in the mid-60s, hundreds of people have come forward with similar claims of extraterrestrial abduction, missing time, strange medical examinations and grey-skinned extraterrestrials
And while psychologists and ufologists disagree on the reality of such claims, the theme of alien abduction has been revisited several times by filmmakers since the late 70s. And as this list demonstrates, the results of such films can be decidedly mixed...
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1977)
Following the financial success of Jaws, director Steven Spielberg took the risky step of remaking Firelight, a small low-budget movie he'd directed when he was just 16. The resulting movie,...

Beauty and the Geek Bowl" />Previously on Beauty and the Geek, the geeks dominated the beauties in the first ever Beauty and the Geek talent show. When faced with their first elimination, some of the beauties chose to flirt instead of study. Amber failed to answer any questions in the elimination, so she was sent home. Tonight, the social experiment will continue to evolve.
Tonight's Beauty and the Geek begins immediately after last week's elimination. Tommy hopes that Amber is coming back. Each of the other girls walks into the room, one-by-one, and poor Tommy has a stricken look on his face because Amber is not among them. Not to be deterred, Tommy insists that as soon as the show is over, he's going to continue his budding relationship with Amber because, by golly, he wants to date a supermodel, gosh darnit!
It's time to find out this week's challenge.

Previously on Beauty and the Geek, nine beauties and nine geeks met for the first time. They found out that they would be competing against each other, and the beauties immediately set about strategizing. Tensions rose between Randi and Amber, and their big, colossal fight sent Jim running to go get some popcorn. In the new elimination room, John E. wasn't quick enough with the buzzer, and he became the first person to be ejected from season 5 of Beauty and the Geek.
Tonight's episode of Beauty and the Geek begins immediately post-elimination. Everyone cheers for the returning geeks. Amber is happy to see Tommy back. She's a little gold-digger in the making—she likes Tom because he's good-looking (and not a real geek, I still maintain) and he'll be rich someday. Cara is happy to see Chris and his rhinestone-encrusted pink hat. Tara isn't too keen to see Jonathan...

On Tuesday, I presented you with my preseason ranked list of all the geeks on season 5 of Beauty and the Geek, and today I will do the same for the beauties. Just as it was difficult making judgments on the geeks based on a handful of words and a photo, it's actually even more difficult doing so for the beauties because they all seem so similar on paper. How many different kinds of models can there be, anyway? However, never fear, I have done all the hard work for you and have carefully pored through all the details that have been made public about these beauties in order to rank them.
Below, please find my Beauty and the Geek Preseason Power Rankings of the beauties.
9. Jillian, Playboy bunny
The reason why Jillian is ranked last among all the beauties is because of her rather vacant expression in her press photo.
