A retrospective of “NCIS: Los Angeles”‘s 14 seasons will air after the series finale on Sunday, May 21 on CBS, the network announced on Friday. The special, which will be hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier, will also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
Showrunner and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill thanked the network for giving him “an extra episode” to wrap up the show, which debuted on Sept. 22, 2009.
“Wrapping up a series is always bittersweet. We were blessed to have 14 seasons together, so bringing it to a satisfying end was extremely challenging after so many years. Fortunately, CBS was gracious enough to give us an extra episode in order to send off our characters in a way befitting their stories that hopefully the fans find both satisfying and hopeful,” Gemmill said.

NCIS: Los Angeles may be ending in a few months, but we'll be taking a trip down memory lane before that happens.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 13, airing Sunday, February 26, will feature a blast from Kilbride's (Gerald McRaney) past.
We already covered the fact that Marilu Henner will guest-star during the episode as Kilbride's ex-wife, who visits her one-time husband with one goal:
Reconnect with his estranged son, Alex.
Later this season, Alex will appear in the flesh because TV Insider broke the news that Christopher Gorham has been cast as Alex.
Beyond the fact Kilbride will be reuniting with his son during the episode, we don't know what will go down.
CBS confirmed last month that the current season would be the end of the procedural drama series.

One of CBS’ longest-running scripted shows, NCIS: Los Angeles, will be coming to an end after 322 episodes. Its current 14th season will be the show’s last, with the series finale set for May 14, airing on the network and streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.
The NCIS spinoff, starring LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell, is tied as the fifth longest-running CBS primetime scripted series ever, only behind Gunsmoke, Lassie, CSI and Criminal Minds. Among the four, the two shows that have aired in the last 50 years, CSI and Criminal Minds, both have since been revived, which bodes well for NCIS: Los Angeles‘ future.
Additionally, NCIS: Los Angeles is a rare long-running procedural drama to have had its original leads, LL Cool J and O’Donnell, stay on for the entire run. Both have spoken publicly about their commitment to the series, which hit the 300 episode milestone last May, and their fellow cast members.

NCIS: Los Angeles is officially back for its 14th season, and while there might have been a scare in the premiere about Hetty (Linda Hunt) — the body with an ID of one of her aliases’ was not hers — there are more of those to come (not involving her). After all, the team will once again be dealing with a case that was left very open-ended from Season 9, and for Kensi (Daniela Ruah), the threat of Kessler (Frank Military) is very much ever-present. When will he make his move? When TV Insider recently caught up with Ruah, who directed Episode 5, she teased what’s ahead there and more. The serial killers from “The Monster” in Season 9 are coming back — that’s the most terrifying episode of the series. Daniela Ruah: Yes! You can thank Frank Military for that, and Adam George Key, who wrote it with him. I’m not surprised considering Frank Military is Kessler.

NCIS: Los Angeles is no stranger to drawing storylines out over multiple seasons (remember the mole hunt?), but fortunately, we know of at least a couple that will be resolved sooner rather than later. Season 13 ended with a couple of happy moments — Callen (Chris O’Donnell) proposed to Anna (Bar Paly), and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) are fostering Rosa (Natalia Del Riego) — but did leave us with quite a few questions. Among them: What’s going on with Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) mission in Syria, and when will Kessler (Frank Military) stop being an ongoing threat to Kensi? We turned to executive producer R. Scott Gemmill for answers. Callen says he needs to speak with Hetty, so where did you want to leave him at the end of this season to lead into that conversation? Is anything you can tease about it? R. Scott Gemmill: That certainly has to play out.

The entire NCIS franchise will be returning for the 2022-2023 broadcast season. CBS has renewed flagship NCIS for a milestone 20th season, which would tie Gunsmoke as the third-longest-running U.S. primetime drama series only behind Law & Order: Svu and Law & Order. It also has picked up its top freshman drama NCIS: Hawai’i for a second season and, as it approaches its 300th episode, NCIS: Los Angeles for a 14th season.
The three dramas join CBS’ previously announced renewals of The Amazing Race, Bob ♥ Abishola, CSI: Vegas, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, Secret Celebrity Renovation, Survivor, Tough As Nails and Young Sheldon. Additional renewals, including for CBS’ other strong procedural drama franchise, FBI, will be coming soon.
Cancellations/Renewals Scorecard: TV Shows Ended Or Continuing In 2021-22 Season

It's change time for Kensi and Deeks.
The couple was at the heart of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Episode 4 and NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 Episode 5.
The first episode was lighthearted; the second not so much.
The life shifts are coming fast and furious at them.
First came Deeks' position as liaison to NCIS being temporarily suspended.
Then came a bid on a house, followed by talk about fertility treatments.
That's just what they need, the tension of house-hunting followed by the pressures of attempting to become parents.
Add in his unemployment and being bar owners during the pandemic and they have every reason to be tense.
Why not instead tackle one major life moment at a time, rather than a different one each episode? It doesn't take much to push Deeks into a manic episode.
Does anybody truly believe that Deeks' departure from Osp will be permanent?
Word is that...

The future is not looking bright — at all — for either Kensi Blye or husband Marty Deeks, coming out of this week’s NCIS: Los Angeles double header.
When summoned to coax intel from David Kessler, a deplorable old foe, about a fellow escaped con, Kensi inadvertently played right into the savvy killer’s hand. Because as the team realized in the second hour’s final moments, Kessler got caught during the prison escape on purpose, so as to leverage his info on the other convict into a private phone call with the President of the United States. This Sunday will be twice as nice for fans of CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles, which is serving up not one but two fresh episodes, beginning at 9:30/8:3oc.
In the second hour, titled “Raising The Dead,” a prison break lets loose a man with designs on killing the President of the United States, so Special Agent Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) is forced to grill the other, captured escapee, David Kessler, for a possible lead. Thing is, Kessler is a bit of a Kensi Blye “superfan” — and a very twisted one at that — seeing as she was responsible...
