In the realm of adaptations of the "Superman" mythos, "Smallville" is certainly up there in terms of its enduring popularity. The series, which starred Tom Welling as Clark Kent, aired for a whopping 10 seasons (amassing more than 200 episodes to its name along the way). It even lasted through two networks as The WB eventually transitioned to The CW. Starring alongside Welling was Michael Rosenbaum as his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. Updated with the latest: Wednesday’s sophomore season has officially wrapped production. Before this, the latest update on the sophomore season set at Nevermore Academy involved the guest appearance of a certain Mother Monster.

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for a second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered. It eventually became the most-watched original series ever on the streamer, with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things Season 4, Dahmer, and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.

Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

It'd been a while since we had any official updates on Wednesday season 2, but that all changed at the beginning of December. Rumors started swirling about Wednesday season 2, and now, Netflix has confirmed what we'd all been hearing over the last few days.

Netflix just announced via press release that the cast and crew have officially wrapped production on season 2. Production started in April 2024 and continued filming through the end of November.

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the movies, TV shows and live sports that will be available on the Max streaming service in December. The Max December 2024 lineup includes HBO Originals Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North, Nature of the Crime, and Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.

Also coming are Max Originals Creature Commandos, Fast Friends, Rose Matafeo: On and On and On, and Bookie Season 2, as well as the Warner Bros. Pictures releases Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Juror #2. The latter will launch with a collection of courtroom dramas, comedies, and documentaries, along with Clint Eastwood classics.

Oscar winner Lady Gaga has joined the cast of “Wednesday” for an undisclosed Season 2 role. Details of Lady Gaga’s part and the size of her role were not revealed but it is expected to be of the cameo variety.

Entertainment Weekly first reported the news, later confirmed by Gold Derby sister site Deadline.

“Wednesday” is one of Netflix’s biggest original series, and production on Season 2 is currently still ongoing. The series stars Jenna Ortega as the title character and was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Tim Burton, who later cast Ortega in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” is the show’s executive producer and a key director.

More than three years after Welling first told TVLine that he and Rosenbaum were working on an animated Smallville follow-up, the actor has now shared with ScreenRant that the project is in limbo while he and Rosenbaum await a go-ahead from Warner Bros. Television, which co-produced the original series.

Thanks to breakout roles in the Scream revival, Netflix's Wednesday and this year's Beetlejuice sequel, Jenna Ortega is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood, so it probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that she's being courted by Marvel Studios.

According to scooper Mttsh, Ortega is now in talks for an undisclosed Marvel Cinematic Universe role.

It's always worth noting that Marvel meets with a lot of talent, but if Ortega has actually entered negotiations for an upcoming project, there's a good chance the trades will get hold of the story before too long.

Even if she is in talks, there's no guarantee that things will work out. Ortega has a busy schedule ahead, with a lead role in Taika Waititi's Klara and the Sun adaptation, and an untitled Trey Edward Shults film that will co-star The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan.
