Mpi Media Group has wrapped production on “Catfight,” an indie movie from writer-director Onur Tukel that stars Anne Heche, Sandra Oh and Alicia Silverstone, the company announced Wednesday. Produced by Gigi Graff, “Catfight” is about two bitter rivals whose grudge match spans a lifetime. Wealthy housewife Veronica Salt (Oh) and struggling outsider artist Ashley Miller (Heche) were close in college, but haven’t seen each other since. When they find themselves attending the same glitzy birthday party, verbal barbs lead to fisticuffs and an all-out brawl that will keep these two locked in combat for years to come. Silverstone co-stars as Heche’s.

Well see if Carpenter receives the paycheck he seeks to hang out around the set of the new film which is being written by Thor and XMen First Class screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. I confess that my first reaction to this news was caught on film and you can now see it in photo form attached to this story. Here's the thing: I am on record as saying that I consider Dwayne Johnson a bit of a natural resource. I don't think the movies he makes are always worthy of his charisma and his genuine talent, but i think he's more than proven himself capable. I am hopeful when he announces a project that it'll be something that is as good as he is. I am also on record as saying that it's exhausting to get worked up about every single remake or sequel or reboot or whatever at this point. The industry has so clearly embraced that as an omnipresent business plan that it is wasted energy. It takes a lot to shake that loose from me now, but maybe this one...

There's a story in The Hollywood Reporter that says Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: Days of Future Past) are writing a screenplay for an Acme movie, inspired by the fictional company seen in "Looney Tunes" cartoons featuring the likes of Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner and Daffy Duck with Steve Carell attached to star. Additionally, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who directed Carell in Crazy Stupid Love, are being courted to director for Warner Bros. But this isn't what's interesting to me. The site reports the film, which will be a CG/live-action hybrid won't actually center on "Looney Tunes" characters and it's being looked at as an event movie that will also launch a franchise. Without any actual plot details it simply sounds to me like they are going to try and find ways of introducing a variety of "Looney Tunes" characters so as to not...

It hasn't been long since Lionsgate threatened the world with a new Power Rangers movie, and it seems they're intent on following through. First up in the pre-production mix is Roberto Orci. While he'll be plenty busy working on the next Star Trek flick, he's also going to executive produce and assist with the story for the new Power Rangers film. The team that will be given scripting duties, however, are Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are most well-known for...

We're in the home stretch now as Fox prepares to release "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," which means we're going to get pounded by publicity materials between now and the actual release date. This new behind-the-scenes feature that was just released deals primarily with Bryan Singer and his reasons for jumping back into the director's chair for the latest entry in one of the longest-running of the modern superhero series. Singer's first two films paved the way for much of what we see now, and when he left the series, it wasn't completely voluntary. While I understand how attractive the chance to revisit Richard Donner's "Superman" must have been to Singer, I think it was a mistake for him to leave the "X-Men" series before he made the film that he planned to follow-up "X2" with, and I'm not sure the series has ever truly recovered from that moment.

The Terminator franchise is expanding beyond the already-confirmed big-screen reboot, with Skydance and Anapurna planning a new TV series to be created in conjunction with the next film. The new series is being written and produced by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, while the writers of the new film, Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, will also be involved as executive producers. The new film and new series are expected to share an interlinked narrative, which is expected to take the franchise in a new direction to the one...

I don’t know if Paramount will ever end up making a “Top Gun” sequel, but they sure are spending a lot of money on screenwriters to bang out scripts for them. The top flight sequel (get it?) originally took off with “Way of the Gun’s” Christopher McQuarrie working on a script back in 2010, then 2011 had “X-Men” writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz climbing into the cockpit, and now the latest scribe to try his hand at plotting a movie for Maverick and crew is “The Town’s” Peter Craig. THR seems to think the hiring of Craig is a good sign that uber producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount are serious about making the sequel. What, they weren’t serious when they hired McQuarrie? Or Miller and Stentz? I’m just saying. By the time this sequel finally gets made, Tom Cruise might be too geriatric to fit into that cockpit.

From Marvel's mighty god of thunder to some First Class marauding mutants, writing duo Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been behind two of this year's best-received comic book adaptations. Next up for the pair is making bomber jackets popular again and bringing back that lovin' feelin'.
Initially talked about last year, a sequel to the high-flying 1986 classic Top Gun just took a step towards production with Paramount's signing of the scribes. Reported by Variety, Miller and Stentz will join producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison and - according to an interview with Hitfix last year - Tony Scott, who helmed the original, is coming back to direct this new adventure.
No news yet on any involvement from original cast members such as Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis, or what direction the story will take, being 25 years removed from the original.

X-Men First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are in negotiations to pen the sequel to the 1986 classic. While a follow up to the original has long been rumoured, it looks as though Paramount, and director Tony Scott, are finally ready to feel the need for speed all over again. Very few details have been released, and it's not known what role Cruise's Maverick will play. Scott has said in the past that the film would follow the development of the pilot into the present day. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer also said that "the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it." Via Coming Soon...

As superhero fans will know, 20th Century Fox not only has the rights to X-Men but also holds the film deals for fellow Marvel titles Daredevil and Fantastic Four, both of which are getting a big-screen relaunch.
Last we heard about Fantastic Four was when Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who were among the writers of X-Men First Class, said they would like to pen the reboot.
There's been no casting or director announced yet (a number of names swirling last year were nothing more than wishful thinking or pure invention) but obviously we won't be seeing any of the previous actors if this is a restart.
It now seems Ioan Gruffudd, who played the super-stretchy Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic in the earlier films, is a little dismayed at the franchise moving on without him.
"I had an amazing time doing those two films. Naturally, I feel a slight disappointment...

Last we heard about Fox's (apparently) in the works reboot of Fantastic Four was that it had a script in the works, and the rumored title was Fantastic Four: Reborn. We haven't heard anything since aside from a load of made up nonsense about Bruce Willis voicing The Thing etc. Well, far from being anything official, we at least have an interested party in getting Marvel's first family back up on the big screen. First Class screen writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz revealed their interest when asked which Marvel character they would like to tackle next at the McM Expo.. "We would absolutely love to reboot the Fantastic Four. There is a franchise that's crying out for it. The Fantastic Four are adventurers, not superheroes, and we have not seen that so far. "It should all be about venturing into the unknown, space, the Negative Zone, the Microverse.

The plot: The origin of the superhero team, the X-Men, is told against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Our thoughts: The “X-Men” has been one of the most popular series of comic books in the Marvel cannon for decades. The popularity skyrocketed when Bryan Singer (director of “The Usual Suspects”) turned the comic stories into two of the most successful and highly regarded superhero movies of the past few years.

X-men: First Class
Review by Kate Atherton
Stars: Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Alex Gonzalez, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng, Nicolas Hoult | Written by Jane Goldman, Matthew Vaughn, Ashley Miller, Zack Stentz | Directed by Matthew Vaughn
Matthew Vaughn was supposed to direct X-Men 3. It almost happened – he’d even completed the storyboards and script. But Vaughn left the project because Fox hadn’t given him enough time for it. Rather ironically, he ended up directing X-Men: First Class instead, for which he was given even less time. How glad I am. Instead of completing what someone else started, Vaughn was able to begin again, with fresh actors, and show us how these characters, with their fantastical names and powers, became who they were. All set against the real events that unfolded during the early 1960s and the Cold War.

Update: Last week we brought you the news that Matthew Vaughn has been charged with directing the new film in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: First Class (see news story below), and now it seems that his favourite scriptwriter Jane Goldman will be taking on writing duties for the film. Her husband Jonathan Ross tweeted today that his wife "is away writing X Men 4 so I am off to bed with little Sweeney alone." Goldman co-wrote the scripts for Vaughn's previous works Stardust and Kick-Ass, and it looks like she will be working with Vaughn again, as well as Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz's who have also contributed to the script.

Matthew Vaughn seems to have brought his regular collaborator, Jane Goldman, aboard the X-Men: First Class juggernaut…
Given that director Matthew Vaughn signed up to helm Fox's 2011 summer blockbuster X-Men: First Class last week, the following piece of news isn't the most surprising you'll hear. However, it seems that Jane Goldman, who co-wrote the screenplays to Vaughn's last two films - Stardust and Kick-Ass - with the director, has also joined First Class for scribing duties.
The news was broken by Jane Goldman's husband, Jonathan Ross, who revealed on his Twitter feed that his wife "is away writing X Men 4". It's a fair assumption that he means First Class by that rather than a fully blown X-Men 4 (which is many, many years away). And it means that Goldman will be working with writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who are also doing rewrites on the project.

Definitely the biggest story of the day, folks! When a release date gets announced ahead of the film going into production, I often think of a scene in Ed Wood where Mike Starr’s studio head holds up a poster advertising a lurid-looking z-flick and tells the director, “It opens in 9 weeks in Tulsa!”
X-Men First Class, it has just been announced via multiple sources, will open on 3rd June, 2011 after British director Matthew Vaughn signed on the dotted line (no pressure then, Mr. Vaughn). For those who may remember Matthew Vaughn was meant to direct X-Men 3 but left it to Bret Ratner…and maybe the subsequent mess has led Vaughn onto the path of redemption.
And via Twitter, Jonathan Ross announced a none too subtle hint that his missus Jane Goldman will be re-teaming with Vaughn (she co-wrote Kick Ass) for this new blockbuster. They will be re-working Ashley Miller...
