Shareen Mitchell is an American actress born and raised in NY and Cairo. She is a graduate of Smith College and is a proud and active lifetime member of The Actors Studio. In the theatre she has most loved working at The McCarter Theatre under the direction of Emily Mann, at The GeVa Theatre under the direction of Anthony Zerbe, and at The Laurel Grove Theatre under the direction of Barbara Bain. Her work in "Tennessee in the Summer" at The Laurel Grove garnered her an Ovation award nomination for best actress. Her favorite leading roles in films are as "Diane" in " American Heart", with Jeff Bridges, and as "Dolly" in "Brooklyn Roses", directed by Christine Noschese. In 2018 and 2019, "Brooklyn Roses" was nominated and won as best Docu- Feature in numerous national and international film festivals. On television Shareen has played leads as a series regular and as a recurring and guest star. Her most favored roles are as "Lucy" Tony Danza's wacky and adorable ex wife in " Hudson Street" and " Virna" Shawn's mom on " Boy Meets World" both on ABC.
In Shareen's early years she worked in the fashion industry at Mademoiselle Magazine, Vogue Magazine and Elite Model management both in NY and Paris. Her interest in style inspired a side gig that became the overriding focus of her life for 10 years. Shareen Vintage was born in a flea market and went on to become one of the most notable vintage businesses in America, It was the subject of the reality show "DresscueMe at Shareen Vintage". From vintage came a collection of bridal and evening wear and Shareen Bridal was born. During the years of designing and styling Shareen spent most of her free time writing. Today that writing has come together in two projects for the stage. Shareen will deliver " Code Name:Triumph'', a one act, one woman play at The Latea Theatre in NY during The New York Theatre Festival in November 2021 and the second, " Who Are You", a full length, one woman play is in pre-production for performances in 2022.
"Code Name: Triumph" concerns a nine year old little girl and the imaginative way she manages her daily escape from an abusive home. "Who Are You" is a story of loss and recovery that celebrates women and honors all of those who changed Shareen's life and centered her understanding of purpose.
