While it's great to see specialty home media labels restoring cult films from the 60s and 70s, I'm also very happy to see modern classics being given the special edition treatment. Such is the case for Hellbender, from John Adams, Zelda Adams, Lulu Adams, and Toby Poser (The Adams Family). Originally seen at the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2021 before heading to Shudder the following year, the film will be released as a limited edition Blu-ray by Arrow, and we have the exclusive trailer premiere.

The sixth feature film from acclaimed filmmakers The Adams Family (The Deeper You Dig), Hellbender is a spell-binding folk horror and coming-of-age story, boiling over with adolescent rage and wicked witchcraft.

Teenager Izzy lives in isolation with Mother because she has a rare immune disorder. Or so she is told. After befriending local girl Amber, Lizzy begins to question the reality of her disease.

Hellbender will be releaesd on Blu-ray on September 16 from Arrow Video.

The 2021 coming-of-age folk-horror film is the sixth feature from The Adams Family, the filmmaking collective comprised by father John Adams, mother Toby Poser, and daughters Zelda Adams and Lulu Adams.

Social media influencers Kyle Thomas (“We Built a Zoo”), Jacob Sartorius (The Loneliest Boy in the World) and Benji Krol are set to star in “A Day for Losers,” a high school comedy written and directed by Australian filmmaker J.G. Clarke (“Numbered Lives”).

Cardinal Motion Picture’s David Lightfoot (“Land of Bad”) will produce alongside Clarke with production set to begin August 2025 in Australia.

“A Day For Losers” takes place at South Verge Military School, a disillusioned cadet, Ryan (Thomas), has recklessly promised the girl of his dreams he will throw the party to end all parties.

Summer time is approaching, which means it is, of course, Belarusian folk-horror season. As part of Deaf Crocodile Films’ new collaboration with DiabolikDVD, the largest independent online distributor of specialized home video releases, their first release will be Valeri Rubinchik’s ultra-rare 1980 feature The Savage Hunt of King Stakh, based on the novel by Belarusian writer Uladzimir Karatkievich. Paul Rosenfeld, former Gramercy Pictures’ veteran head of distribution, died Tuesday at his home in Portland, Ore. He was 71.

Rosenfeld was one of the most well-known film buyers in the exhibition industry. He began his career working as a young film booker at Walter Reade theater in New York. 20th Century Fox film executive Bruce Snyder, who met him when Rosenfeld was 21, said, “Despite his seemingly gruff personality, Paul was one of the kindest, most sensitive people I have ever met,” Snyder said.

Rosenfeld left the East Coast when Mann Theaters’ president Larry Gleason hired him as head film buyer. He worked four years at Mann and developed a father-son relationship with producer Ted Mann (“Brubaker”).

Soon after, Rosenfeld became a producer’s rep on director Lawrence Kasdan’s 1983 American comedy-drama “The Big Chill” before returning to Mann in 1986 as head film buyer. He left for Gramercy Pictures in 1992 to...

Paul Rosenfeld, a former head film buyer for Mann Theatres and distribution executive at Gramercy Pictures and Cineplex Odeon, has died. He was 71. His daughter said Rosenfeld died January 7 of natural causes at his home in Portland, Or.

Rosenfeld had a long and varied career in exhibition and distribution, starting out as a film booker at Walter Reade Theatres in New York in the late 1960s. While working there, he met Fox film exec Bruce Snyder, who said, “Despite his seemingly gruff personality, Paul was one of the kindest, most sensitive people I have ever met.”

Veteran film buyer Bob Lenihan said in a statement: “Chances are if you were lucky enough to meet Paul Rosenfeld, you loved Paul Rosenfeld, and the loss of such a great and gifted personality is profound.”

Rosenfeld left Walter Reade for Los Angeles after then-Mann Theatres president Larry Gleason hired him as head film buyer.
